1932–33 Blackpool F.C. Season
The 1932–33 season was Blackpool F.C.'s 32nd season (29th consecutive) in the Football League. They competed in the 22-team Division One, then the top tier of English football, finishing bottom. They were relegated to Division Two. Jimmy Hampson was the club's top scorer for the sixth consecutive season, with nineteen goals in total (eighteen in the league and one in the FA Cup). On 17 October 1932, two days after Blackpool played Leicester City at Bloomfield Road, the ground hosted its first and thus far only full international match: England versus Ireland. 1932–33 In English Football
The 1932–33 season was the 58th season of competitive football in England. For the second time in three seasons, Arsenal were crowned league champions, building on a start of just one defeat in the first fourteen games. They clinched the crown with a 3–1 win at Chelsea in April 1933. Meanwhile, Stoke City ended their nine-year wait for top flight promotion by attaining First Division status after winning an impressive 56 points over the campaign. Hull City and Brentford were also promoted. Everton won their second FA Cup defeating Manchester City 3–0 in the final. Lower league Walsall provided the surprise by knocking out Arsenal in an earlier round. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. Harry Evans (football Manager)
Harold Evans was the manager of Blackpool F.C. between 1928 and 1933. After the resignation of Sydney Beaumont, the Blackpool directors, concerned about financial pressure, decided against appointing a full-time replacement and instead appointed Evans, also a director of the club, with the title of ''honorary manager''. He was in charge for the next five seasons, aided by the club's trainers. In 1929–30, under Evans' guidance, Blackpool won the Division Two championship, their only league title and could look forward to their debut in the top flight. After three seasons amongst the elite, they were relegated back to Division Two, which expedited a move to appoint a recognised manager. Evans, who is Blackpool's fourth longest serving manager, was succeeded by Sandy MacFarlane. He later became the club's chairman. Jimmy Hampson
James Hampson (23 March 1906 – 10 January 1938) was an English professional footballer. He spent eleven seasons at Blackpool, where he remains record goalscorer with 252 goals in 373 games, and is still regarded as one of the best centre forwards to play for the club. Club career Born in Little Hulton, Lancashire, Hampson began his career with Walkden Park. In 1925 he joined Football League Third Division, Nelson, and in his first season, 1925–26, he scored 13 goals in 20 league games. During his first season at Nelson, Hampson scored hat-tricks in three consecutive games. The following season, 1926–27, he scored 23 goals in 35 games. In October 1927, he joined Blackpool for a fee of £1,000, scoring on his debut in a 3–1 defeat at Notts County on 15 October. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. Blackpool is a seaside resort in Lancashire, England. Located on the northwest coast of England, it is the main settlement within the borough also called Blackpool.
