Albert Elmore
Albert B. Elmore (November 19, 1904 – July 26, 1988) was an American college football coach and player, college basketball coach, and college athletics administrator. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Elmore led the Troy State Teachers College (now known as Troy University) from 1931 to 1936, compiling a 31–20–2 record. He also coached basketball at the Virginia Military Institute for one season in the late 1930s. Coaching career Following his graduation from University of Alabama, Elmore began coaching in 1931 at the Troy State Teachers College. He is credited with changing the team mascot to "Red Wave" (this was a variation of Alabama's " Crimson Tide", and the current nickname is "Trojans"). In seven years at Troy State, five of which were winning seasons, Elmore compiled a 35–30–3 record. Marion is a city in, and the county seat of, Perry County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city is 3,686, up 4.8% over 2000. History Eleventh District A & M School On August 18, 1906, the Georgia General Assembly enacted the Perry Act approving the construction of a secondary-level school in each of Georgia's congressional districts. The 1932 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University in the 1932 Southern Conference football season. Led by head coach Chet A. Wynne, the team went 9–0–1. Battle For The Ol' School Bell
The Battle for the Ol' School Bell was an rivalry between the Troy State Trojans (now the Troy Trojans) and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks when the two schools started playing together in Division II. The series continued as the Trojans moved to the FCS, with the Gamecocks moving to the FCS soon after. The series came to a halt when Troy moved to what is now the FBS. However, with Jacksonville State moving to the FBS and Conference USA in 2023, the rivalry may be renewed again in the near future. The idea for a school bell trophy stemmed from the two schools' common origins as teachers' colleges. History The two teams first met in 1924 in Jacksonville, Alabama. Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) is a public college in Tifton, Georgia. It is part of the University System of Georgia and offers baccalaureate and associate degrees. The college is named after Abraham Baldwin, a signer of the United States Constitution from Georgia and the first president of the University of Georgia.
