The Club made front page news when they held the Stanford Indians to a scoreless tie and nearly defeated the Cal Golden Bears. After upsetting an undefeated Saint Mary's team, half of the Winged O's boarded the SS Matsonia on November 18 for the Hawaiian Islands, where they would play the winner of the Honolulu All-Star game, and the other half stayed behind to fill a prearranged game with Loyola. Percy Locey
Percy P. Locey (November 28, 1894 – August 1981) was an American football player, coach, and a college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at the University of Denver from 1932 to 1935. He was the athletic director the latter at Oregon State College from 1937 to 1947. Locey was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1981 and into the Oregon State University Sports Hall of Fame in 1990. Playing career Locey enrolled at Oregon State in 1915 and played competitive football as a freshman. His career and education, however, was put on hold for a short period during World War I. Returning to Oregon State in 1921, he became an outstanding tackle on the Oregon State Aggies football team. Locey lettered in 1915 and again from 1921 to 1923 and was team captain in 1923. The 1931 Saint Mary's Gaels football team was an American football team that represented Saint Mary's College of California during the 1931 college football season. In their 11th season under head coach Slip Madigan, the Gaels compiled an 8–2 record and outscored all opponents by a combined total of 119 to 65. The Gaels' victories included a 13–7 besting of USC, a 14–0 besting of California, a 16–0 victory over Oregon, and a 7–2 victory over Southwest Conference champion SMU. The lone setbacks were losses to the Olympic Club (0–10) and UCLA (0–12).
