George Hainsworth
George Henry Hainsworth (June 26, 1893 – October 9, 1950) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League, and the Saskatoon Crescents in the Western Canada Hockey League. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Personal Hainsworth was born in the Kew Beach area of Toronto in 1893. His parents, John Hainsworth and Mary James, were both from England. Hainsworth's family moved to Berlin, Ontario, where his father was a water commissioner for many years. Previously, his father had worked as a plumber in Toronto. He also owned a plumbing retail business, Hainsworth Plumbing, in Berlin. After his playing days were over, Hainsworth returned to Berlin (now named Kitchener) with his wife Alma and son Bill. 1930–31 New York Americans Season
The 1930–31 New York Americans season was the sixth season of play. The Americans improved their record to escape last-place in the Canadian Division, but did not qualify for the playoffs. Offseason Eddie Gerard was hired to coach the team. Four players were picked up for cash from the Montreal Maroons: Frank Carson, Mike Neville, Hap Emms and Red Dutton. Dutton would be with the club until its demise in 1942, becoming the team manager after the NHL took over. Just before the start of the season, the Americans traded Lionel Conacher to the Maroons for cash. The Americans signed three new players: John Keating, Vernon Ayres and Gord Kuhn. New York Americans
The New York Americans, colloquially known as the Amerks, were a professional ice hockey team based in New York City from 1925 to 1942. They were the third expansion team in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the second to play in the United States.
