1930 Macdonald Brier
The 1930 Macdonald Brier, the Canadian men's national curling championship, was held from February 25 to 28, 1930 at the Granite Club in Toronto, Ontario. Alberta and Manitoba both finished round robin play with 7-2 records necessitating a tiebreaker playoff to determine the Brier champion. In the playoff, Team Manitoba, who was skipped by Howard "Pappy" Wood, Sr. would defeat Alberta 12–9 to capture Manitoba's third straight Brier Tankard. Howard's brothers, Vic and Lionel became the first siblings to win the Brier. Bob Weeks is a reporter and analyst for TSN, covering golf and curling. He was previously the editorial director of SCORE''Golf'' magazine. In addition, he served as host for SCORE''Golf'' TV. He was also the curling columnist for ''The Globe and Mail'' for more than 25 years and editor of the Ontario Curling Report for 30. Weeks joined TSN on a full-time basis on June 29, 2015. Hardy Ganong
Major-General Hardy Nelson Ganong CBE, VD, ED (April 18, 1890 - February 24, 1963) was a Canadian sportsman and a military commander who served in both World War I and II. Early life The son of Edward Morrison Ganong and Margaret A. Lunn, Hardy Ganong was born and educated in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. He was a cousin to the family that founded Ganong Bros. chocolate makers and after completing his schooling went to work in this business. World War I In 1909, Hardy Ganong joined the Canadian Militia, then following the outbreak of World War I enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was sent overseas as part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force where he served on the battlefields of France as a member of the 5th Battalion Canadian Mounted Rifles. He was wounded in February 1917, suffering a gunshot wound to the left shoulder during a routine period with his unit in the trenches. Bruce Buchanan (curler)
Bruce Buchanan (born 1958 or 1959) is a Canadian retired sportscaster. He was the play-by-play announcer for the Edmonton Oilers television broadcasts on ITV, CKEM, and Sportsnet West from 1984 until 2001 with analyst John Garrett. During the 1986–87 season, he split play-by-play duties on CHCH-TV's Toronto Maple Leafs broadcasts with Calgary Flames announcer Peter Maher. He has also done play-by-play for the Red Deer Rebels, Winnipeg Jets , and Calgary Flames and got occasional play-by-play assignments on '' Hockey Night in Canada'' in the late 1980s.
