The 1928 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 34th staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887. Young Irelands GAA (Limerick)
Young Irelands GAA was a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Limerick, Ireland that field both underage and adult male sports teams. The primary club sport was hurling, but the teams also played football. Founded in 1898, Young Irelands declined in the 1980s and disbanded in 1991. Formation On 16 November 1898, Young Irelands GAA was established as a boys underage hurling club in Limerick. The first meeting was held at the headquarters of the Young Ireland Society. The club was named after the Young Ireland movement. The attendees at that meeting were Johnny Sweeny, Michael McInerney, James Fitzgerald, Jack Murphy, Pat Cowhey , Jim O’Connell, Paddy O’Farrell, Frank O’Shaughnessy, and Jim Gleeson. Rathkeale GAA
Rathkeale () is a town in west County Limerick, in Ireland. It is 30 km (18 mi) southwest of Limerick city on the N21 road to Tralee, County Kerry, and lies on the River Deel. Rathkeale has a significant Irish Traveller population, and since 1995, almost half the town residents were members of the traveling community. Rathkeale also has the largest concentration of descendants of the German Palatines who immigrated to Ireland in the early 18th century. Limerick Senior Hurling Championship
The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Limerick SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Limerick in Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Limerick hurling. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at the Gaelic Grounds in October. The prize for the winning team is the John Daly Cup. Initially played as a knock-out competition, the championship currently uses a round robin format followed by a knock-out stage. The Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Luimneach) or Limerick GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Limerick. The county board is also responsible for the Limerick county teams. The county hurling team are the current All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship (SHC) title holders, and have the fourth highest total of titles, behind Kilkenny, Cork and Tipperary. Fedamore GAA
Fedamore GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Fedamore, County Limerick, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. The club has won the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship on two occasions in 1912 and 1927. Location The club is located in the parish of Fedamore which is 15km south of Limerick City. It is a member of the East division and neighbouring clubs include Ballybricken/Bohermore, Camogue Rovers, Crecora/Manister and South Liberties with whom Fedamore once had a close rivalry. History The club was founded in 1884 making it one of the oldest GAA clubs in the county.
