Yury Vasilyevich Yakovlev (russian: Ю́рий Васи́льевич Я́ковлев; 25 April 1928 – 30 November 2013) was a Soviet and Russian actor. He was awarded the honorary title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1976. Main works Yury Yakovlev is best known for his roles in late Soviet film, particularly for his roles in Eldar Ryazanov's and Leonid Gaidai's comedies. Tahir Salahov
Tahir Salahov ( Azerbaijani, in full: , russian: Таир Теймур Салахов; 29 November 1928 – 21 May 2021) was a Soviet, Azerbaijani painter and draughtsman. He was First Secretary of the Artists' Union of the USSR (1973–1992), Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, member of over 20 academies and other creative organizations throughout the world, including academies of art of France, Spain, Germany, and Austria. Biography Salahov was born in Baku. His father Teymur Salahov was a victim of Stalin's repressions, having been arrested in 1937 and executed shortly after. His mother Sona was left to bring up four children on her own but the family did not learn of their father's death until 1956 after Stalin's death. Tahir Salahov studied at the Azimzade Art College in Baku in 1945–1950 and the Surikov Moscow Art Institute in 1951–1957. Valentin Galochkin
Valentin Andreevich Galochkin (russian: Валенти́н Андре́евич Га́лочкин) (November 22, 1928 – November 3, 2006) was a prominent Soviet (Ukrainian, Russian) sculptor. Biography Galochkin was born in Dnipropetrovsk (USSR) on November 22, 1928. His father Andrey Andreevich Galochkin (Ukrainian, in the soviet passport: Russian) came from the Kaluga region and was a restaurant chef, later a modeler. Mother Golda Gorkhovna (in the soviet passport: Olga Grigorievna) Liberman (Jewish) came from the town of Chyhyryn (Ukraine) and worked as an accountant. When World War II began in 1941 the family was evacuated to the Krasnodar region, then to Uzbekistan, returning in 1944 to Dnipropetrovsk. From 1944 till 1949 Valentin Galochkin attended an art school in Dnipropetrovsk and learned from Professor Zhiradkov. From 1949 till 1955 he studied sculpture at Kyiv Institute of Fine Arts. Valentin Ivanovich Muratov (russian: Валентин Иванович Муратов, 30 July 1928 – 6 October 2006) was a Russian gymnast and gymnastics coach. He competed at the 1952 and 1956 Olympics in all artistic gymnastics event and won four gold and one silver medal. Aleksandr Zasukhin
Aleksandr Fedoseyevich Zasukhin (russian: Александр Федосеевич Засухин, 15 July 1928 – 15 August 2012) was a Soviet boxer who won two silver medals at the European championships of 1953 and 1955. He competed at the 1952 Olympics, but was eliminated in the second bout. During his career Zasukhin won four national titles (1950, 1954, 1956, 1957) and 165 bouts out of 185. Zasukhin graduated from the Krasnodar Institute of Physical Education, where he defended a PhD in pedagogy and became professor. Valentin Savvich Pikul (russian: Валенти́н Са́ввич Пи́куль) (July 13, 1928 – July 16, 1990) was a popular and prolific Soviet historical novelist of Ukrainian-Russian heritage. He lived and worked in Riga. Pikul's novels were grounded in extensive research, blending historical and fictional characters and often focusing on Russian nationalistic themes.
