Charley Moran
Charles Barthell Moran (February 22, 1878 – June 14, 1949), nicknamed "Uncle Charley", was an American sportsman who gained renown as both a catcher and umpire (baseball), umpire in Major League Baseball and as a college football, collegiate and professional American football coach. Early life Moran was born in Nashville, Tennessee to an Protestantism in Ireland, Irish Protestant family. Cleveland Bulldogs
The Cleveland Bulldogs were a team that played in Cleveland, Ohio in the National Football League. They were originally called the Indians in 1923, not to be confused with the Cleveland Indians NFL franchise in 1922. However, after team owner Samuel Deutsch purchased the Canton Bulldogs in 1924, he merged the Canton team with his Indians and renamed his franchise the Cleveland Bulldogs. The Canton Bulldogs remained a part of the team until 1925, when they were sold back to Canton. The Cleveland Bulldogs played in the NFL until 1928 when they were relocated to Detroit and became the Detroit Wolverines. The team was later incorporated into the New York Giants in 1929. Joey Maxwell
Joseph William Maxwell (November 5, 1904 – February 21, 1983) was an American football player and lawyer. A native of PHILADELPHIA PENNSYLVANIA. Maxwell attended Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He played college football at Notre Dame. He was the center in Notre Dame's "Seven Mules" line that also featured the backfield known as the Four Horsemen. He played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) for the Frankford Yellow Jackets from 1927 to 1929. He played at the center and end positions and appeared in a total of 38 NFL games, 25 as a starter. After retiring from football, he served as a coach for the 1931 Saint Louis Billikens football team. He received a law degree from Saint Louis University where he practiced law. Bill Donohoe
William Wilson Donohoe (April 1, 1904 – October 9, 1972), sometimes listed as Bill Donohue, was an American football player and coach. He played college football at the Carnegie Institute of Technology—now known as Carnegie Mellon University—and professionally for the Frankford Yellow Jackets of the National Football League (NFL). Donohoe served as head football coach at Saint Francis College—now known as Saint Francis University (Pennsylvania), Saint Francis University—in Loretto, Pennsylvania from 1928 to 1929 and at his alma mater, Carnegie Tech, from 1946 to 1948. Carl Davis (American Football, Born 1903)
Carl Lewis Davis (May 19, 1903 – October 14, 1959) was an American football player. A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Davis played college football as a Tackle (gridiron football), tackle for West Virginia Mountaineers football, West Virginia. He was a member of the school's undefeated 1922 West Virginia Mountaineers football team, 1922 football team. He was also a standout in track and set a school record in the shot put that lasted for more than 30 years. He played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) for the Frankford Yellow Jackets during 1927 season. He played at the end, tackle, and guard positions and appeared in a total of eight NFL games, three as a starter. After his playing career, Davis was an attorney in Charleston.
