1926 Uruguayan Primera División
The Torneo del Consejo Provisorio was a football championship organised by an Interim Council ("Consejo Provisorio") in 1926. It was a transitional tournament after the schism of Uruguayan football in 1922, when the Federación Uruguaya de Football (FUF) was established as a dissident body from official Uruguayan Football Association (AUF). Peñarol was the champion. History After the schism of 1922, Central and Peñarol were disaffiliated from the association. Both associations, FUF and AUF, organised their own tournaments separately. With several attempts to reunification failed, the Government of Uruguay intervened to solve the problem and as a result, the AUF decided not to hold a championship in 1925. As the situation had not significantly changed in 1926, the AUF did not organise an official championship either. Peñarol
Club Atlético Peñarol (; English: ''Peñarol Athletic Club'') —also known as ''Carboneros'', ''Aurinegros,'' and (familiarly) ''Manyas''— is a Uruguayan sports club from Montevideo. The name "Peñarol" comes from the Peñarol neighbourhood on the outskirts of Montevideo. Throughout its history the club has also participated in other sports, such as basketball and cycling. Its focus has always been on football, a sport in which the club excels, having never been relegated from the top division. Club Nacional De Football
Club Nacional de Football (, ''National Football Club'' or simply as Nacional) is a Uruguayan professional sports club based in Montevideo. The club was founded on 14 May 1899 as a result of the merger between ''Uruguay Athletic Club'' and ''Montevideo Fútbol Club''. Although its main focus is football, the club hosts many other activities, including basketball, futsal, tennis, cycling, volleyball, and chess. In domestic tournaments, Nacional has won the Primera División title 49 times, most recently in the 2020 season. Domestic cups honors include Copa de Competencia (8 times) and Copa de Honor (7 times), among others. Universal Football Club was an Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo that participated in the Primera División in the 1910s and 1920s before being dissolved. History Universal debuted in Primera División in the 1912 season, finishing in the penultimate position. The club's best performance was in 1919, when it finished 2nd to Nacional.
