1924–25 FC Basel Season
The FC Basel 1924–25 season was their thirty second season since the club's foundation on 15 November 1893. The club's chairman was Karl Ibach in his third season as chairman in his second period as chairman. FC Basel played their home games in the Landhof in the district Wettstein in Kleinbasel. Overview Gustav Putzendopler was team captain this season and as captain he led the team trainings and was responsible for the line-ups. Basel played a total of 28 matches in their 1924–25 season. 16 of these were in the domestic league, and 12 were friendly matches. Of these 12 friendlies only two were played at home in the Landhof and 10 were away games, seven in Switzerland, one in Strasbourg and two in Zagreb. Only two test games ended with a victory, the other ten all ended with a defeat. In these tests Basel scored just 11 goals but they conceded 34. FC Aarau
FC Aarau is a Swiss football club based in Aarau. They play in the Swiss Challenge League, the second tier of Swiss football after being relegated from Swiss Super League. History FC Aarau was formed on 26 May 1902 by workers from a local brewery. The early days of the club were a success and they won the Swiss championship in 1911–12 and then again in 1913–14. The club spent 25 years, from 1907 to 1933, in the top league but were relegated to the lower league and were unable to return to the top flight for a number of decades. In the 1980–81 season the club were able to return to the top league in the Swiss football pyramid after a 3–1 victory over Vevey-Sports. Ernst Kaltenbach
Ernst Kaltenbach (born 7 February 1889 – 10 October 1965) was a Swiss footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Kaltenbach started his playing career with Basel in 1909 and played for the first team until 1927. During this time the FCB played in the Swiss Serie A. Kaltenbach played a total of 275 games for Basel, of which 147 games were in the national championship, five in the Anglo-Cup and 123 in friendly/test games. He scored 20 goals in the domestic league, three in the Anglo-Cup and 26 in the friendly games. In the 1912–13 season Basel won the Anglo-Cup. Kaltenbach was part of the team that won the final on 29 June 1913 in the Hardau Stadium, Zürich against FC Weissenbühl Bern 5–0. Max Galler
Max Galler (27 February 1902, in Basel – 6 January 1970, in Basel) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel and the Swiss national team. He played as defender or midfielder. He later became trainer as was trainer of the Basel team for the season 1939/40. Football career Galler played his youth football for FC Basel and advanced to their first team in 1921. He played his domestic league debut on 25 May 1922 in the home game at the Landhof against FC Bern. He scored his first goal for his club in the first game of the 1925–26 Serie A season on 6 September 1925 against Solothurn. Theodor Schär
Theodor Schär (16 February 1903; date of death unknown) was a Swiss footballer who played as goalkeeper for FC Basel, and later for Servette FC. He also played for the Switzerland national team. Football career Schär played three seasons for Basel. His first league game was on 25 September 1922 against FC Bern. In all three seasons he played all the domestic league games. His last game for the club was on 24 May 1925, it was a test game against Tottenham Hotspur. Between the years 1922 and 1925 Schär played a total of 75 games for Basel. 46 of these games were in the Swiss Serie A and the other 29 were friendly games. Hans Schneider was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel as a striker. Schneider joined FC Basel in 1921, but didn't play his first test game for the team until 5 June 1922. He played his domestic league debut on 30 November 1924 in the goalless draw against Old Boys. Hans Rau was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel and Concordia Basel. He played mainly as a forward, but also as a midfielder. Football career Rau joined Basel in 1922. During his first few seasons he only played in test games. He played his domestic league debut on 14 September 1924 in the away game against Luzern. Arthur 'Pius' Fahr (1898 – 9 May 1968) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel. Karl Bielser (1903–?) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel. He played mainly in the position of forward, later as a defender. Ernst Zorzotti was a Swiss footballer who played 13 seasons for FC Basel and one season for FC Bern. He played mainly in the position as goalkeeper. He also played as a striker, but sometimes also as midfielder. Football career Zorzotti joined FC Basel's first team in 1981.
