Punk Berryman
Robert Norman "Punk" Berryman (May 18, 1892 – May 18, 1966) was an American football player and coach. He played as a halfback at Pennsylvania State University and was selected as third-team All-American in 1915, his senior year. Berryman served as the head football coach at Gettysburg College in 1916 and at Lafayette College in 1917. He was subsequently an assistant football coach at the University of Iowa and Dickinson College. Berryman served as the head basketball coach at Iowa State University during the 1919–20 season; his team finished the season with an overall record of 6–12, placing seventh in the Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association with a conference mark of 2–10. In 1922 and 1923 Berryman was an assistant coach at Colgate University under fellow Penn State alumnus, Dick Harlow. The Clifton Heights Orange and Black was a professional football team from Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania, a town located just to the southwest of Philadelphia, from 1921 until around 1932. The team was operated by the Clifton Heights Athletic Association to compete against the other towns of Delaware County. The team was managed by James E. Gallagher and coached by Rusty Yarnell, who also played with the team for a number of years. The Shenandoah Yellow Jackets were an Anthracite League football team that played during the league's two years of existence in the 1923 and 1924 football seasons. They played twelve games in the 1923 football season finishing the season with five wins, six losses and a tie. Their actual league record was three wins, three losses and a tie as the other wins and losses were with teams outside the Anthracite Football League. Nevertheless they still finished third in the overall league standings with a tally of 24 points scored for to 26 points against. The Yellow Jackets returned for the 1924 football season to complete eight games, going 4–4 for a .500 winning percentage, but two of those games were non league related, giving the Yellowjackets three wins, three losses and no ties, with a points tally of 27 points scored for and 30 points against. Milwaukee Badgers
The Milwaukee Badgers was a professional American football team, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that played in the National Football League from 1922 to 1926. The team played its home games at Athletic Park, later known as Borchert Field, on Milwaukee's north side. The team was notable for having many African-American players for the time. After the team folded following the season (largely due to being left broke because of a $500 fine by the NFL for using four high-school players in a game against the Chicago Cardinals, a game arranged after the Badgers had disbanded for the season), many of its members played for the independent semi-pro Milwaukee Eagles. Akron Pros
The Akron Pros were a professional football team that played in Akron, Ohio from 1908 to 1926. The team originated in 1908 as a semi-pro team named the Akron Indians, but later became Akron Pros in 1920 as the team set out to become a charter member of the American Professional Football Association (later renamed the National Football League (NFL) in 1922). Fritz Pollard, the first black head coach in the NFL, co-coached the Akron Pros in 1921. Paul Robeson played for the team in 1921 as well.
