George Levene
Israel George "Izzy" Levene (May 1, 1885 – November 12, 1930) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Tennessee from 1907 to 1909 and at Wake Forest University in 1922, compiling a career record of 18–15–5. Player career Levene played college football at the University of Pennsylvania, and was named an All-American in 1905 and 1906. In 1905, Penn went 12–0–1. Levene was known for being a football player who worked hard to help out his team, as well as one of the first good pass catching ends. The forward pass was legalized for the 1906 season. Assistant coaching career Levene coached under head coach John Heisman at the University of Pennsylvania. NC State–Wake Forest Rivalry
The NC State–Wake Forest rivalry is a series of athletic contests between in-state rivals, the North Carolina State University Wolfpack and the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons. The first game was played in 1895 between the two institutions. Wake Forest was originally located in Wake Forest, North Carolina (approximately 18 miles NNE of NCSU's campus in Raleigh) until it moved its campus across the state of North Carolina to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1956. The two universities are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, where they meet every year in football due to being aligned in the Atlantic Division. The 1922 Trinity Blue Devils football team was an American football team that represented Trinity College (later renamed Duke University) as an independent during the 1922 college football season. In its first and only season under head coach Herman Steiner, the team compiled a 7–2–1 record and outscored opponents by a total of 156 to 57. The team shut out five opponents: (43–0), (27–0), Davidson (12–0), Wake Forest (3–0), and (26–0). Tom Neal was the team captain.
