1922 Uruguayan Primera División
The Uruguayan Championship 1922 was the 22nd season of Uruguay's top-flight football league. Overview The tournament consisted of a two-wheel championship of all against all. It involved twelve teams, and the champion was Club Nacional de Football, Nacional. This year there was a schism in Uruguayan football, Club Atlético Peñarol, Peñarol and Central Español Fútbol Club, Central being disaffiliated for disobeying the mandates of the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol, AUF.On November 12, 1922, the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) decided to disaffiliate Peñarol and Central after both transgressed the rules of the Association to play friendly matches against Racing Club and Independiente de Avellaneda respectively, clubs belonging to the Association Amateurs Football in Argentina, a dissident entity of AFA. Rampla Juniors Fútbol Club, commonly known as Rampla Juniors, is a Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. The team was actively playing the 2021 season by January 2021. The Estadio Gran Parque Central is the stadium of Club Nacional de Football. It is located in Montevideo, Uruguay, near Nacional headquarters (exactly between the streets Carlos Anaya, Jaime Cibils, General Urquiza and Comandante Braga), in the La Blanqueada neighbourhood. Due to various factors, it is considered a historical stadium. Built in 1900, it is the oldest current stadium in America and the fifteenth in the world. But it mainly stands out for having hosted the 1930 FIFA World Cup, playing one of the first two matches in the history of the competition, when on 13 July 1930 United States defeated Belgium 3–0 in Group D.
