The 1921 St. Xavier Musketeers football team was an American football team that represented St. Xavier College (later renamed Xavier University) as in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) during the 1921 college football season. Ohio Athletic Conference
The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) was formed in 1902 and is the third oldest athletic conference in the United States. Its current commissioner is Sarah Otey. Former commissioners include Mike Cleary, who was the first General Manager of a professional basketball team to hire an African American head coach, and would later run the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). The Ohio Athletic Conference competes in the NCAA's Division III. Through the years, 31 schools have been members of the OAC. The 1921 college football season had no clear-cut champion, with the ''Official NCAA Division I Football Records Book'' listing California Golden Bears, Cornell Big Red, Iowa Hawkeyes, Lafayette Leopards, Washington & Jefferson Presidents, and Vanderbilt Commodores as champions. Only California, Cornell, Iowa, and Lafayette claim national championships for the 1921 season. Corcoran Stadium
Corcoran Stadium was a stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. It hosted the Xavier University Musketeers football team until the school dropped football for financial reasons in 1973. The stadium held 15,000 people when it opened on November 23, 1929. The grandstands were finally razed in 1988 after attempts to revive the program in the NCAA's Division III failed. The facility is now known as Corcoran Field. It is used for soccer and lacrosse, and has seating for 1,500. Corcoran Stadium also played host to one NFL game on October 7, 1934 when the Cincinnati Reds (NFL) took on the Chicago Cardinals. The Reds lost the match by a score of 13-0 before 2,500 Reds fans. The 1921 Centre Praying Colonels football team represented Centre College of Danville, Kentucky in the 1921 college football season. Led by coach Charley Moran, the Praying Colonels compiled a 10–1 record, scoring 334 points while allowing 28 points (282 and 6 in regular season play). The Colonels' victory in its game versus Harvard is regarded as one of the greatest upsets in college football history. Centre also played in two postseason bowl games after the season.
