1919 NC State Aggies Football Team
The 1919 North Carolina State Aggies football team represented the NC State Aggies of North Carolina State University during the 1919 college football season. A year after losing to Georgia Tech 128 to 0, the Aggies achieve their largest win margin in program history, a 100–0 shutout of Hampton Roads Navy, one of the many highlights of NC State's turnaround 1919 season. NC State went 3–1 against conference opponents, playing North Carolina for the first time since 1905, and losing by a single point. For the first time, NC State achieved a seven-win season, which was not surpassed until 1927. South Atlantic Intercollegiate Athletic Association
The South Atlantic Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SAIAA) was an intercollegiate athletic conference with its main focus of promoting track and arranging track meets. Its member schools were located in the states of Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, as well as the District of Columbia. The conference's membership was centered in the South Atlantic region of the United States, which remains in the Southern United States and on the coast of the Atlantic, but is above and contrasted with the Deep South (which had the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association). It is sometimes known as the Tidewater region. Several of its members are today in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The SAIAA was first formed in 1912 and remained active until 1921. NC State–Wake Forest Rivalry
The NC State–Wake Forest rivalry is a series of athletic contests between in-state rivals, the North Carolina State University Wolfpack and the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons. The first game was played in 1895 between the two institutions. Wake Forest was originally located in Wake Forest, North Carolina (approximately 18 miles NNE of NCSU's campus in Raleigh) until it moved its campus across the state of North Carolina to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1956. The two universities are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, where they meet every year in football due to being aligned in the Atlantic Division. Wearn Field was a ballpark located in Charlotte, North Carolina and home to amateur and professional baseball in Charlotte from 1909 to 1940. Wearn Field was built and owned by Hornets club owner J. H. Wearn alongside his lumber mill. Home plate was at the corner of South Graham and Winona Streets; the right field corner was at South Graham and Commerce.
