Domestic Difficulties
''Domestic Difficulties'' is a silent short film featuring Mutt and Jeff. The film is one of the earliest animated adaptations of Bud Fisher's comic strip. Plot Inside an apartment, Mutt is sitting down, strumming a banjo. Momentarily Mutt's wife comes to the scene. She tells Mutt she is going out, and she tells him to stay home. Mutt seems to give his word on the matter. But Mutt phone calls his friend Jeff and says they will go to a bar once his wife leaves. Mutt then goes to bed, pretending to sleep. The wife checks into the bedroom and exits. With the wife apparently gone, Mutt comes out of a bedroom window and climbs down a pipe on a wall where Jeff is waiting. Jeff suddenly spots the wife coming back, and therefore tells Mutt to return to the bedroom. Mutt is able to get back in bed on time to be seen by her there. When the wife resumes to her outing. ''Fun and Fancy Free'' is a 1947 American animated musical fantasy package film produced by Walt Disney and released on September 27, 1947 by RKO Radio Pictures. It is the ninth Disney animated feature film and the fourth of the package films that the studio produced in the 1940s to save money during World War II. The Disney package films of the late 1940s helped finance ''Cinderella'' (1950) and subsequent others such as ''Alice in Wonderland'' (1951) and ''Peter Pan'' (1953). The film is a compilation of two stories: ''Bongo'', narrated by Dinah Shore and is loosely based on the short story "Little Bear Bongo" by Sinclair Lewis, and ''Mickey and the Beanstalk'', narrated by Edgar Bergen and based on the "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale. Dinah Shore
Dinah Shore (born Frances Rose Shore; February 29, 1916 – February 24, 1994) was an American singer, actress, and television personality, and the top-charting female vocalist of the 1940s. She rose to prominence as a recording artist during the Big Band era. She achieved even greater success a decade later, in television, mainly as the host of a series of variety programs for the Chevrolet automobile company. After failing singing auditions for the bands of Benny Goodman, and both Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Shore struck out on her own. She became the first singer of her era to achieve huge solo success. She had a string of 80 charted popular hits, spanning 1940–1957, and after appearing in a handful of feature films, she went on to a four-decade career in American television. Walt Disney Animation Studios (WDAS), sometimes shortened to Disney Animation, is an American animation studio that creates animated features and short films for The Walt Disney Company. The studio's current production logo features a scene from its first synchronized sound cartoon, ''Steamboat Willie'' (1928). Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy O. Retta Scott
Retta Scott (February 23, 1916August 26, 1990) was an American artist. She was the first woman to receive screen credit as an animator at the Walt Disney Animation Studios. Early life and education Scott was born in Omak, Washington on February 23, 1916. She graduated from Seattle's Roosevelt High School in 1934. Scott received two scholarships over the course of her education. The first was from the Seattle Art & Music Foundation, who awarded her with a scholarship in the 4th grade that she used to attend 10 years of creative art classes. She later received 3-year scholarship to attend the Chouinard Art Institute, so she moved to Los Angeles, California. She spent much of her free time sketching wildlife at the nearby Griffith Park zoo. Her ambition was to mold a career in Fine arts. United Productions of America, better known as UPA, was an American animation studio active from the 1940s through the 1970s. Beginning with industrial and World War II training films, UPA eventually produced theatrical shorts for Columbia Pictures such as the Mr. Magoo series. In 1956, UPA produced a television series for CBS, ''The Boing-Boing Show,'' hosted by Gerald McBoing Boing. Rudy Larriva
Rudolph Larriva (February 12, 1916 – February 19, 2010) was an American animator and director from the 1940s to the 1980s. Early life Born in El Paso, Texas, which his parents moved out at the age of two, he attended several grammar schools, and graduated from John C. Fremont High School with a major in commercial art, but never went to college. He was of Mexican descent. Career Larriva worked at a number of studios, including Format Films, Filmation, and Walt Disney Productions, but is best known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons and UPA. He was an animator in Chuck Jones' unit, starting in 1939 with the short ''Dog Gone Modern''. He later animated for shorts like Elmer's Pet Rabbit and Porky's Cafe. Larriva was considered by Jones to be his top animator in the late 1930s and early 1940s, where he particularly delivered Disney-quality animation.
