1915 Victorian Soccer Season
The 1915 Victorian soccer season was the seventh competitive season of Association football, soccer in the Australian state of Victoria (Australia), Victoria, under association with the governing body of Football Victoria. It would be the last season of soccer prior to what be a three-year hiatus of soccer due to World War I in which approximately ninety percent of registered players were enlisted in the Australian Defence Force prior to the 1916 season, with at least forty percent of the players registering in April during the season. Two leagues were contested, being 'Victorian Division 1' and 'Victorian Division 2' that is now (as of 2020 Football Victoria season, 2020 season) recognized as the National Premier Leagues Victoria, NPL & National Premier Leagues Victoria 2, NPL 2 respectively. Football Victoria is the state governing body for soccer in Victoria, Australia. It is affiliated with Football Australia, the sport's national governing body. History Football Victoria began operation in 1884 under the name Anglo Australian Football Association of Victoria and is one of the oldest sporting associations in Victoria. It has had several name changes over the years, but has survived as the governing body of soccer in Victoria since this time. In 2009, player registrations for soccer in Victoria passed 50,000, the highest number in the federation's history. In 2018, the federation was renamed from "Football Federation Victoria" to "Football Victoria".
