1915 Oklahoma Sooners Football Team
The 1915 Oklahoma Sooners football team was an American football team that represented the University of Oklahoma in the Southwest Conference during the 1915 college football season. In their 11th year under head coach Bennie Owen, the Sooners compiled a 10–0 record (3–0 against conference opponents), won the Southwest Conference championship, and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 370 to 54. This was the first season that the Sooners participated in the Southwest Conference. There was no contemporaneous system in 1915 for determining a national champion. However, Oklahoma was retroactively named as the national champion by the Billingsley Report using its alternate "margin of victory" methodology. Southwest Conference
The Southwest Conference (SWC) was an NCAA Division I college athletic conference in the United States that existed from 1914 to 1996. Composed primarily of schools from Texas, at various times the conference included schools from Oklahoma and Arkansas. For most of its history, the core members of the conference were Texas-based schools plus one in Arkansas: Baylor University, Rice University, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M University, Texas Christian University, Texas Tech University, the University of Arkansas and the University of Texas at Austin.
