The 1914 Wisconsin gubernatorial election was held on November 3, 1914. Incumbent Republican Governor Francis E. McGovern retired to run for U.S. Senate. Republican nominee Emanuel L. Philipp defeated Democratic nominee John C. Karel, Progressive nominee John J. Blaine and Socialist nominee Oscar Ameringer, with 43.26% of the vote. Emanuel Lorenz Philipp (March 25, 1861 – June 15, 1925) was an American railroad executive and politician from Wisconsin, who served as the List of Governors of Wisconsin, 23rd governor of Wisconsin from 1915 to 1921. Early life Philipp was born in Honey Creek, Sauk County, Wisconsin, Honey Creek, Sauk County, Wisconsin, Sauk County, Wisconsin Wisconsin () is a state in the upper Midwestern United States.
