''By the Light of the Moon'' is a 1911 American single-reel silent film directed and filmed by Edwin S. Porter. It was produced for the Rex Motion Picture Company. University of California Press, Plot The story is about a romance between a couple. The run into many obstacles to being together, including interruption by a tramp and disapproval of her parents. They decide to elope in a plane, and her father chases them below in his automobile. They reach the minister's house and elope before the father arrives. Production and release ''By the Light of the Moon'' was the company's third release. It revived a technique Porter had used in his 1908 film ''A Comedy in Black and White''. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Animation (or MGM Animation for short) was the animation division of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture studio in Hollywood, California, that specializes in animated productions for theatrical features and television. It was established in 1993 and primarily involved in producing children's entertainment based upon MGM's ownership of properties, such as ''The Pink Panther'', ''The Lionhearts'', ''The Secret of NIMH'', and ''All Dogs Go to Heaven''. Fleischer Studios () is an American animation studio founded in 1929 by brothers Max and Dave Fleischer, who ran the pioneering company from its inception until its acquisition by Paramount Pictures, the parent company and the distributor of its films. In its prime, Fleischer Studios was a premier producer of animated cartoons for theaters, with Walt Disney Productions being its chief competitor in the 1930s. Today, the company is again family owned and oversees the licensing and merchandising for its characters. Fleischer Studios characters included Koko the Clown, Betty Boop, Bimbo, Popeye the Sailor, and Superman. Unlike other studios, whose characters were anthropomorphic animals, the Fleischers' most successful characters were humans (with the exception of Bimbo, a black-and-white cartoon dog). ''Forbidden Planet'' is a 1956 American science fiction film from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, produced by Nicholas Nayfack, and directed by Fred M. Wilcox (director), Fred M. Wilcox from a script by Cyril Hume that was based on an original film story by Allen Adler and Irving Block. It stars Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen. Shot in Eastmancolor and CinemaScope, it is considered one of the great science fiction films of the 1950s, a precursor of contemporary science fiction cinema. Joshua Meador
Joshua Lawrence "Josh" Meador (March 12, 1911 - August 24, 1965) was an American animator, effects animator, special effects artist, and animation director for the Walt Disney studios. Biography Meador was born in Greenwood, Mississippi. His family later moved to Columbus, Mississippi in 1918. He later studied at the Chicago Art Institute. There, a fellow alumnus told Meador he was traveling to California to be interviewed at Walt Disney Productions, and suggested for him to come along. At first, Meador refused as he wanted to do commercial art, but he was coerced into interviewing at Disney. There, he was hired to work in their animation effects department, where he worked on numerous films such as ''20,000 Leagues Under the Sea'', for which the studio won an Academy Award. Meador also created the animation effects for the 1956 MGM science-fiction film ''Forbidden Planet'', most notably the "Monster from the Id" that attacks the spaceship. Don DaGradi
Don DaGradi (March 1, 1911 – August 4, 1991) was an American writer for Disney who started out as a layout artist on 1940s cartoons including "Der Fuehrer's Face" in 1943. He eventually moved into animated features with the film ''Lady and the Tramp'' in 1955. He also worked as a color and styling or sequence consultant on many other motion pictures for Disney. His greatest achievement was for his visual screenplay for ''Mary Poppins'' in 1964 for which he shared an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay with Bill Walsh. Don DaGradi died August 4, 1991, in Friday Harbor, Washington. He was named a Disney Legend posthumously, only months after his death. DaGradi lived in Friday Harbor, WA with his wife Betty and two children. In the 2013 film '' Saving Mr. Banks'', DaGradi is portrayed by actor Bradley Whitford. John Mitchell Lounsbery (March 9, 1911 – February 13, 1976) was an American Animator, animator and Animation director, director who worked for Walt Disney Animation Studios, Walt Disney Productions. He is best known as one of Disney's Nine Old Men, of which he was the shortest lived as well as the first to die. Life and career He was born on March 9, 1911 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised in Colorado.
