1908 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 1908 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 20th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Kilkenny County Board. On 16 May 1909, Mooncoin won the championship after a 5–17 to 3–05 defeat of Threecastles in the final. This was their fourth championship title overall and their first in two championship seasons. Ned Doyle (hurler)
Edmond Doyle (born 28 August 1877) was an Irish hurler who played as a defender as a forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Doyle made his first appearance for the team during the 1903 championship and was a regular member of the starting for the next few seasons until his retirement after the 1912 championship. During that time he won six All-Ireland medals and five Leinster medals. The Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the St Canice's Credit Union Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Kilkenny SHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Kilkenny in Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Kilkenny hurling. Introduced in 1887 as the Kilkenny Hurling Championship, it was initially a straight knockout tournament open only to senior-ranking club teams. The championship has gone through a number of changes throughout the years, including the use of a round robin, before reverting to a straight knockout format.
