1908 Denver Pioneers Football Team
The 1908 Denver Ministers football team represented the University of Denver as a member of the Colorado Football Association (CFA) during the 1908 college football season. In their third season under head coach John P. Koehler, the Ministers compiled a 7–1 record (3–0 in conference play), won the CFA championship, and outscored opponents by a total of 153 to 37. The team's only loss was by an 8–4 score in the final game of the season against Pop Warner's Carlisle Indians. Colorado Football Association
The Colorado Football Association or Colorado Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, was one of the earliest college football conferences in the United States, with its membership centered on the state of Colorado. The league existed from 1890 to 1908. After folding in 1908, all of its members subsequently founded the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, which remains in existence today as a Division II conference. Gamble Field was an outdoor sports stadium in the western United States, located on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder. It was the predecessor of Folsom Field. History Opened in 1901 on September 21, it was built via the efforts of the university's student body. The field was named after Judge Harry P. Gamble, a six-time (1891–96) football letterman and two-time captain. Seating capacity was initially limited to 1,000 via a wooden grandstand located on the western side of the field, the only side that had seating. The 1908 Colorado Silver and Gold football team was an American football team that represented the University of Colorado as a member of the Colorado Football Association (CFA) during the 1908 college football season. Fred Folsom, who had left Colorado to coach at Dartmouth College from 1903 to 1907, returned as the team's head coach for his third stint and eighth overall season. Under Folsom's guidance, the team compiled an overall record of 5–2 record with a mark of 3–1 in conference playing, placing second in the CFA. In its fifth season under head coach Joe Maddock, the team compiled a 4–2–1 record and outscored all opponents by a total of 206 to 49.
