State Field
State Field was the home stadium of the Louisiana State University Tigers football team prior to 1924. The field was built on the old downtown campus of LSU. It was located east of the Pentagon Barracks and at the site of the current Louisiana State Capitol Building. Prior to construction of State Field, football games were played on an area called the parade grounds which was located south of the Pentagon Barracks and west of Hill Memorial Library and George Peabody Hall. The field, known on the campus simply as the "athletic field", was later moved to a site with bleachers that was north of the campus' experimental garden, and next to the old armory building. 1908 LSU Tigers Football Team
The 1908 LSU Tigers football team represented the LSU Tigers of Louisiana State University during the 1908 college football season. The Tigers were coached by Edgar Wingard and posted a perfect 10–0 record, outscoring opponents 442 to 11. The team played its home games at State Field and competed as members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA). Triple threat quarterback Doc Fenton led the nation in points scored. The Tigers were retro-picked as co- national champion by the National Championship Foundation, and the NCAA recognizes LSU as national champion for that season along with Penn. Pelican Park (New Orleans)
Pelican Park was a sports stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1908 to 1914. The ballpark was bound by South Carrollton Avenue, Palmyra Street, Banks Street and Scott Street. A contest was conducted to name the new ballpark. "Pelican Park" won out over scores of other entries. When Pelican Park was demolished in 1914, the park's wooden grandstand was disassembled and relocated several blocks down Carrollton Avenue by mules to the intersection of Carrollton Avenue and Tulane Avenue. It reopened on April 13, 1915, as Pelican Stadium. It was home to the New Orleans Pelicans baseball organization from 1908 to 1914. Clark Field, originally known as Varsity Athletic Field, was a stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Clark Field hosted the Texas Longhorns football and track teams until they moved to the newly constructed Memorial Stadium in 1924.
