John Counselman
John Sanders Counselman (February 18, 1880 – March 29, 1955) was an American college football player and coach, professor of mathematics, and civil engineer. He played for Virginia Tech with Hunter Carpenter. He also attended the University of Michigan. Counselman coached Cumberland in 1905, and for Samford (then Howard) from 1906 to 1908, finishing after just the first two games of the latter season. He is the first coach in Samford history. Counselman was selected as a substitute for the ''Washington Post'''s All-Southern team. Counselman was a professor at the College of William & Mary and Georgia Tech. 1907 LSU Tigers Football Team
The 1907 LSU Tigers football team represented the LSU Tigers of Louisiana State University during the 1907 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association football season. The season was the first year under coach Edgar Wingard. It was also the first year at LSU for star player, Doc Fenton. Before the season Fenton, who was from Scranton, Pennsylvania, had been heavily recruited by Wingard to play at LSU. The 1907 Chattanooga Moccasins football team represented the University of Chattanooga—now known as the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga—as an independent during the 1907 college football season. The team finished its six-game schedule without a win, scoring only one touchdown in the entire season. A seventh game was scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, November 28, in Chattanooga against of Clarksville, Tennessee. However, the game was cancelled on November 27 because of Chattanooga's poor performance on November 26 against the 12th Cavalry. State Field
State Field was the home stadium of the Louisiana State University Tigers football team prior to 1924. The field was built on the old downtown campus of LSU. It was located east of the Pentagon Barracks and at the site of the current Louisiana State Capitol Building. Prior to construction of State Field, football games were played on an area called the parade grounds which was located south of the Pentagon Barracks and west of Hill Memorial Library and George Peabody Hall. The field, known on the campus simply as the "athletic field", was later moved to a site with bleachers that was north of the campus' experimental garden, and next to the old armory building.
