1905 Oregon Agricultural Aggies Football Team
The 1905 Oregon Agricultural Aggies football team represented Oregon Agricultural College (now known as Oregon State University) as an independent during the 1905 college football season. In their second and final season under head coach Allen Steckle, the Aggies compiled a 6–3 record and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 166 to 28. Allen Steckle
Allen Chubb Steckle (July 1872 – March 4, 1938) was an American football player and coach. He played tackle for the University of Michigan from 1897 to 1899 and was selected as an All-American in 1898. Steckle served as the head football coach at the Nevada State University—now known as the University of Nevada, Reno—from 1901 to 1903 and Oregon State University, known then as Oregon Agricultural College, from 1904 to 1905, compiling a career head coaching record of 16–14–2. In 1903, his Nevada State Sagebrushers team, drawn from a school with 80 students, defeated the California Golden Bears. Early years Steckle was born in July 1872 at Freeman, Michigan. California Field was an outdoor college football stadium on the west coast of the United States, located on the campus of the University of California in Berkeley. It served as the home field for the California Golden Bears from 1904 through 1922. Chemawa Indian School
Chemawa Indian School is a Native American boarding school in Salem, Oregon, United States. Named after the Chemawa band of the Kalapuya people of the Willamette Valley, it opened on February 25, 1880 as an elementary school. Grades were added and dropped, and it became a fully accredited high school in 1927, when lower grades were dropped. In 2005, it continued to serve ninth through twelfth grades. It is sometimes referred to as Chemawa High School. It has primarily served students of tribes from the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Bell Field
Bell Field, originally known as College Field (1893–1909), was an outdoor athletic stadium in the northwest United States, on the campus of Oregon State College (now University) in Corvallis, Oregon. It was the home venue of Oregon State Beavers football prior to the opening of Parker Stadium (now Reser Stadium) in November 1953. Track and field continued at Bell Field until its demolition in 1974. History Opened in 1910, Bell Field had a seating capacity of 21,000 at its peak and was named after J.R.N. "Doc" Bell, an early supporter of the college and its athletic teams.
