The Liga Mexicana de Fútbol Amateur Association, known as the Primera Fuerza, was an amateur football league founded in Mexico in 1902 with five clubs: " Orizaba A.C.", " Pachuca A.C.", " Reforma A.C.", "Mexico Cricket Club" and " British Club". Orizaba won the league in its inaugural year. A total of 37 teams took part in this league from 1902 until 1943, when football in Mexico went professional. History Prior to the Liga Mayor, there was no national football league in Mexico and football competitions were held within relatively small geographical regions. The winners of the ''Primera Fuerza'', a local league consisting of teams in and around Mexican Federal District, was considered the national champion. The México Cricket Club was a former Mexican Association football, football team that played in the Primera Fuerza, Liga Mexicana de Football Amateur Association. This club was founded in the small town San Pedro de los Pinos, which is now subsumed as part of greater Mexico City. Albinegros De Orizaba
Club Deportivo Albinegros de Orizaba was a football club of the city of Orizaba, in the state of Veracruz. Founded in 1898 as "Orizaba Athletic Club", it was founded by Scottish migrant Duncan Mac Comish Mac Donald who owned a local steel company. In the beginning, the club hosted cricket among other sports. The club had the honour of being Mexico's first ever football champion in 1903 when the club played in the old Primera Fuerza. The club was among the first other to play in the Primera División de México in 1943 which was the first ever professional league in the nation history. Overview Pachuca won the Mexican national championship for the first time in 1905, if only because their goal average (goal ratio) was better than that of British Club (Mexico City). A Mexican triumph this was not, however, as all of Pachuca's players were British, many of whom had gained experience playing in the English leagues. The British Football Club was a Mexican football club that played in the Liga Mexicana de Football Amateur Association, the first Mexican league prior to the professionalization and development of the Primera División de México. History The club was founded in 1902 by Percy Clifford, a Cornish immigrant, who at the time was a member of the Club Reforma. Clifford decided to dedicate his life to becoming one of the best players in the Mexican league and would later go on to become a Manager and board member for the club. The club's main source of economic support came from the Club Británico, a British sports club in Mexico City, which was founded in 1899.
