Varsity Stadium is an outdoor collegiate football stadium located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is home to the Toronto Varsity Blues, the athletic teams of the University of Toronto. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. Toronto Balmy Beach Beachers
The Toronto Balmy Beach Beachers were a Canadian football team based in Toronto, Ontario and a member of the Ontario Rugby Football Union, a league that preceded the Canadian Football League. Spanning three decades, they appeared in four Grey Cup championships, winning twice in 1927 and 1930, and were the longest lasting member of the ORFU. History The Beachers were runners-up to the national title in their first season of play in 1924 when they lost to Queen's University in the 12th Grey Cup game. They would go on to win the Grey Cup three years later in 15th Grey Cup, defeating the IRFU's Hamilton Tigers. After another three years, the Beachers would again return to the Grey Cup and were once again victorious, winning the 18th Grey Cup in 1930 in Canadian football over the Regina Roughriders. Al Ritchie
Alvin Horace "Al" Ritchie (December 12, 1890 – February 21, 1966), also known by his nickname "The Silver Fox", was a Canadian football player, coach, and administrator who was the head coach of the Regina Roughriders from 1928 to 1932, in 1935, and in 1942. He had many accomplishments and honors, including being named to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame (as a charter member), Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame. The Al Ritchie Memorial Stadium, Al Ritchie Arena, and Al Ritchie Neighborhood are named in his honor. In the 1910s, prior to serving in World War I, Ritchie played for a Saskatchewan rugby team and was a player-coach in baseball, hockey and lacrosse.
