1899 Ireland Rugby Union Tour Of Canada
The 1899 Ireland rugby union tour of Canada occurred in October 1899, twenty four years after Ireland's first international. It was Ireland's first ever international tour. It was also the first overseas tour undertaken by any of the home countries as a single entity. Seventeen players were selected to make the journey to Canada but no caps were awarded. Three clubs – Dublin University, Lansdowne and North of Ireland FC – provided fifteen of these players. Many of those who went on the tour had not played, nor did they subsequently play, for Ireland. Many of those who were part of the 1899 Triple Crown side were not able to afford the time or cost of the trip. Ireland often had to field just fourteen players due to injuries. Among those to be injured was James Myles who broke his leg. Myles, who was later elected as an independent TD of East Donegal, had to remain in Canada until December. 1952 Ireland Rugby Union Tour Of South America
The 1952 Ireland rugby union tour of South America, was a series of rugby matches played in Chile and Argentina. This tour by the Ireland national rugby union team coincided with the death of Eva Peron, the wife of Juan Peron, the President of Argentina. As a result, it was almost cancelled. Eva Peron died on 26 July, six days after the Irish squad had departed Dublin. However, after playing their first game in Santiago, Chile, the team travelled onto Buenos Aires and completed the tour as planned. They finished with a record of played 9, won 6, drew 2 and 1 defeat. The tour also featured the first full rugby internationals between Ireland and Argentina. Touring party *Manager: G.P.S. Milton (Canada 2016 Census, 2016 census population 110,128) is a town in Southern Ontario, Canada, and part of the Regional Municipality of Halton, Halton Region in the Greater Toronto Area. Dungannon RFC (Dungannon Football Club) is a rugby union club from Dungannon, Northern Ireland, playing in Division 2B of the All-Ireland League. Ian Geddes Davidson (10 August 1877 – 22 June 1939) was an Irish rugby union player who played in the wing position. Davidson played club rugby with North of Ireland F.C., was capped 9 times for Ireland, and was a member of the British Isles team that toured South Africa in 1903. Early life and club Davidson was a pupil at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution, before going on to play club rugby for North of Ireland F.C. based in Belfast. Dr. Cecil Anderson Boyd Military Cross, MC (5 July 1875 – 27 February 1942) was an Republic of Ireland, Irish rugby union player, and medical doctor.
