Colorado Football Association
The Colorado Football Association or Colorado Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, was one of the earliest college football conferences in the United States, with its membership centered on the state of Colorado. The league existed from 1890 to 1908. After folding in 1908, all of its members subsequently founded the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, which remains in existence today as a Division II conference. Fred Folsom
Fred Gorham Folsom (November 9, 1873 – November 11, 1944) was an American football player, coach of football and baseball, lawyer, and law professor. He served as the head football coach at the University of Colorado Boulder (1895–1899, 1901–1902, 1908–1915) and at Dartmouth College from (1903–1906), compiling a career college football record of 106–28–6. Folsom played football at Dartmouth from 1892 to 1894. He was also the head baseball coach at Colorado in 1898 and 1899, tallying a mark of 6–6. Folsom practiced law in Denver and Boulder, Colorado, Boulder and taught at the University of Colorado Law School from 1905 to 1943. The school is part of the Denver Public Schools system and has been in continuous operation since 1883. It is one of four original high schools in Denver; the other three are East, West, and South. History The high school was constructed by the then-independent township of Highland, northwest of Denver, in 1883. It belonged to Denver Public Schools from the beginning and was known as 'Denver North Side High School'; the original graduating class of 1886 was entirely female. East High School is a historical public high school located in the City Park neighborhood on the east side of Denver, Colorado, United States. It is part of the Denver Public Schools system, and is one of four original high schools in Denver. The other three are West, North, and South. History East High opened in 1875 and was the first high school in Denver. The first graduating class was in 1877. In 1889, it moved to 19th and Stout Street because of the need for more room. This location is now referred to as "Old East," and could accommodate 700 students. The architect for the current facility was Denver native George H. Williamson, himself an 1893 graduate of "Old East" High. Williamson won national recognition for his design of the "new" East, which has a high clock tower modeled after Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
