Oscar II
Oscar II (Oscar Fredrik; 21 January 1829 – 8 December 1907) was King of Sweden from 1872 until his death in 1907 and King of Norway from 1872 to 1905. Oscar was the son of King Oscar I and Queen Josephine. He inherited the Swedish and Norwegian thrones when his brother died in 1872. Oscar II ruled during a time when both countries were undergoing a period of industrialization and rapid technological progress. His reign also saw the gradual decline of the Union of Sweden and Norway, which culminated in its dissolution in 1905. In 1905, the throne of Norway was transferred to his grandnephew Prince Carl of Denmark under the regnal name Haakon VII. When Oscar died in 1907, he was succeeded in Sweden by his eldest son, Gustaf V. Oscar II is the paternal great-great-grandfather of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. Ingvar Wedervang
Ingvar Brynhjulf Wedervang (21 July 1891 – 4 December 1961) was a Norwegian economist and statistician. He graduated from the University of Oslo with a degree in economics in 1913. During the next nine years, he worked first as a government statistician with Statistics Norway, then for the private company Treschow-Fritzøe, and again for a government agency. In 1922 he moved to Munich and continued his studies. He returned to Statistics Norway in 1923 and received his doctorate in 1925 with a dissertation on the sex proportion at birth and infant mortality. Wedervang became lecturer at the University of Oslo in 1925 and was appointed professor of economics and statistics in June 1926. In 1930 Wedervang was among the sixteen founding members of the Econometric Society. As a professor Wedervang lectured on applied economics, social and economic statistics, and demography. August Schønemann
August Schønemann (né Pettersen; 30 May 1891 – 18 February 1925) was a Norwegian singer, actor and comedian. From the mid-1910s up to his death in 1925, he was among the most popular entertainers in Norway. He was father of Aud Schønemann. August was born in Kristiania. He made his staged debut at Østre Theater in 1906, and performed at various theatres over the years. He had his breakthrough in early 1915 with the song "Neutralitetsværnet" in the revue ''Futt'' at Benno Singer's Theatre Moderne. His most famous act was possibly a duet with Lalla Carlsen at Chat Noir, in a Hamlet parody in the revue ''Uten en tråd''. He also starred in one film production, the four-reel comedy '' Kjærlighet paa pinde'' (1922), directed by Erling Eriksen. Anders Jahre
Anders August Jahre (28 May 1891 – 26 February 1982) was a Norwegian shipping magnate. Jahre was educated in law, and worked as a lawyer in Sandefjord from 1916 until 1928. Meanwhile, he was also involved in the whaling industry, and he founded the whaling company A/S Kosmos in 1928, operating out of Sandefjord. He also established Jahres Kjemiske Fabrikker, a processor of whale blubber, as well as establishing a passenger ferry line between Oslo and Kiel. He contributed significantly to the development of the city of Sandefjord. Among other things, he financed the building of the new town hall. He was a major philanthropist, and was honoured with The Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 1950 and 1962, as well as an honorary professorship at the University of Oslo in 1961. After his death, however, there was much controversy surrounding alleged tax fraud and hidden funds in overseas accounts. Per Skou (20 May 1891 – 24 February 1962) was a Norwegian footballer, sports official and businessperson. He was born in Skien. He played left back for Odd and Lyn, and became Norwegian cup champion three times – with Lyn in 1911 and with Odd in 1913 and 1915. He was capped 41 times for the Norwegian national team.
