Jean Odin
Jean Ernest Sébastien Odin (20 January 1889 – 16 October 1975) was a French politician. Odin was born in Bordeaux, where his father worked as a ship's captain. At a young age Odin moved to Noumea, New Caledonia, where his father had been transferred, and attended school there. Upon his return to France, Odin became a lawyer's clerk. Receiving a bursary, he resumed his studies and qualified as a lawyer. By 1917, he was an advocate in Bordeaux, and later in Paris. He ran unsuccessfully as a Radical in the 1919 and 1924 elections to represent Gironde in the Chamber of Deputies, but succeeded in 1928. In 1932 he was elected to the Senate. He served as a member, and then as secretary, of the Senate committee which dealt with French Navy affairs. Jean Odin was one of the eighty who voted against granting special powers to Marshal Philippe Pétain on 10 July 1940. His mandate expired on 31 December 1941, ending his political career. Alfred Janniot
Alfred Auguste Janniot (13 June 1889 – 18 July 1969) was a French Art Deco sculptor most active in the 1930s. Biography Janniot was educated at the École des Beaux-Arts, a pupil of Jean Antoine Injalbert, and was the winner of the 1919 Prix de Rome. Under the influence of Antoine Bourdelle, most of Janniot's career was given to monumental sculpture, monumental and architectural sculpture. In 1938 he became an officer in the Legion of Honor. From 1945 through 1959, he held the title of "Professor of Monumental Art" at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. His extensive bas-reliefs on the Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris – built in 1931 for the Paris Colonial Exposition – portray ships, oceans, and Wildlife art, wildlife, including antelopes, elephants, zebras, and snakes. Théophile Marie Brébant
Théophile Marie Brébant (24 May 1889 – 20 February 1965) was a French Army officer during World War I and World War II. He ended his career in 1946 with the rank of colonel. Career Brébant served from 23 July 1908 to 14 June 1946 in the French Army. Marcel Moyse
Marcel Moyse (pron. ''moh-EEZ''; May 17, 1889, in St. Amour, France – November 1, 1984, in Brattleboro, Vermont, United States) was a French flautist. Moyse studied at the Paris Conservatory and was a student of Philippe Gaubert, Adolphe Hennebains, and Paul Taffanel; all of whom were flute virtuosos in their time. Moyse played principal flute in various Paris orchestras and appeared widely as a soloist and made many recordings. His trademark tone was clear, flexible, penetrating, and controlled by a fast vibrato. This was a characteristic of the 'French style' of flute playing that was to influence the modern standard for flutists worldwide. Moyse taught on the faculty of the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal, and was a founder of the Marlboro Music School and festival in Vermont. Marcel Boussac
Marcel Boussac (17 April 1889 – 21 March 1980) was a French entrepreneur best known for his ownership of the Maison Dior and one of the most successful thoroughbred race horse breeding farms in European history. Born in Châteauroux, Indre, France, Boussac made a fortune in textile manufacturing. In 1919 he acquired the Château de Mivoisin, a 36 square kilometre property located 1½ hours south of Paris in Dammarie-sur-Loing, Loiret. In 1946, he financed Christian Dior's new Paris fashion house that became one of the most famous clothing and perfume marques. In 1951 Boussac expanded into the newspaper business with the acquisition of ''L'Aurore''. An avid horseman, Marcel Boussac acquired the Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard horse breeding farm in Neuvy-au-Houlme in Lower Normandy and the Haras de Jardy in Marnes-la-Coquette. Suzanne Bianchetti (24 February 1889 – 17 October 1936) was a film actress. Suzanne Bianchetti appeared in her first film in the early 1900s and quickly became one of France's most loved and respected actresses. She appeared as Marie Antoinette in Abel Gance's 1927 epic, ''Napoléon'' and worked with many of the early notables of the silent film era such as Antonin Artaud and the singer, Damia.
