Women's Rights
Women's rights are the rights and entitlements claimed for women and girls worldwide. They formed the basis for the women's rights movement in the 19th century and the feminist movements during the 20th and 21st centuries. In some countries, these rights are institutionalized or supported by law, local custom, and behavior, whereas in others, they are ignored and suppressed. They differ from broader notions of human rights through claims of an inherent historical and traditional bias against the exercise of rights by women and girls, in favor of men and boys.Hosken, Fran P., 'Towards a Definition of Women's Rights' in ''Human Rights Quarterly'', Vol. 3, No. 2. (May 1981), pp. 1–10. Issues commonly associated with notions of women's rights include the right to bodily integrity and autonomy, to be free from sexual violence, to vote, to hold public office, to enter into legal contracts, to have equal rights in family law, to work, to fair wages or equal pay, to have reproduct ...

1918 Danish Folketing Election
Folketing elections were held in Denmark on 22 April 1918,Dieter Nohlen & Philip Stöver (2010) ''Elections in Europe: A data handbook'', p524 the first in which women could vote. The result was a victory for Venstre, which won 45 of the 140 seats in the Folketing, which had been expanded from 114 to 140 seats. Voter turnout was 75.5%. Electoral system The Folketing was elected by a mixture of proportional representation in Copenhagen and first-past-the-post voting in single-member constituencies in the rest of the country. Outside of Copenhagen there were 20 regional levelling seats in addition to three national levelling seats, which were intended make the results more proportional. The 1918 elections were the only ones in Danish history to feature this mixed system. Future elections would be entirely using proportional representation with the single-member districts not affecting the party-level results. Zahle's School, studied mathematics at the Copenhagen University and became the second woman mathematician to graduate from a university after Thyra Eibe. She was a teacher at the school of Marie Kruse in 1900-1918 and married the politician Peter Rochegune Munch in 1902. She was the vice chairperson of the LKV from its foundation until its dissolution after the introduction of women suffrage in 1915. She was the organiser of the local sec ...

Audio Feedback
Audio feedback (also known as acoustic feedback, simply as feedback) is a positive feedback situation which may occur when an acoustic path exists between an audio input (for example, a microphone or guitar pickup) and an audio output (for example, a loudspeaker). In this example, a signal received by the microphone is amplified and passed out of the loudspeaker. The sound from the loudspeaker can then be received by the microphone again, amplified further, and then passed out through the loudspeaker again. The frequency of the resulting howl is determined by resonance frequencies in the microphone, amplifier, and loudspeaker, the acoustics of the room, the directional pick-up and emission patterns of the microphone and loudspeaker, and the distance between them. The principles of audio feedback were first discovered by Danish scientist Søren Absalon Larsen, hence it is also known as the Larsen effect. Feedback is almost always considered undesirable when it occurs with a singe ...

Acoustical Engineering
Acoustical engineering (also known as acoustic engineering) is the branch of engineering dealing with sound and vibration. It includes the application of acoustics, the science of sound and vibration, in technology. Acoustical engineers are typically concerned with the design, analysis and control of sound. One goal of acoustical engineering can be the reduction of unwanted noise, which is referred to as noise control. Unwanted noise can have significant impacts on animal and human health and well-being, reduce attainment by students in schools, and cause hearing loss. Noise control principles are implemented into technology and design in a variety of ways, including control by redesigning sound sources, the design of noise barriers, sound absorbers, suppressors, and buffer zones, and the use of hearing protection (earmuffs or earplugs). Besides noise control, acoustical engineering also covers positive uses of sound, such as the use of ultrasound in medicine, programming digita ...

Søren Absalon Larsen
Søren Absalon Larsen (April 5, 1871 – January 2, 1957) was a Danish physicist who worked in the field of electroacoustics and is best known for giving his name to the Larsen effect. Absalon Larsen was originally MSc. Philosophy and taught theology, then he began to study physics. He subsequently joined to assist Professor Peter Kristian Prytz in the organization of a new exercise course in electronics for mechanical engineers. He was employed at the Polytechnic college, first as a lecturer, later as a professor of electrical engineering Electrical engineering is an engineering discipline concerned with the study, design, and application of equipment, devices, and systems which use electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Knudsen Layer
The Knudsen layer, also known as evaporation layer, is the thin layer of vapor near a liquid or solid. It is named after Danish physicist Martin Knudsen (1871–1949). Definition At the interface of a vapor and a liquid/solid, the gas interaction with the liquid/solid dominates the gas behavior, and the gas is, very locally, not in equilibrium. This region, several mean free path lengths thick, is called the Knudsen layer. Knudsen layer thickness The Knudsen layer thickness can be approximated by l_c, given by l_c =\frac, where k is Boltzmann's constant The Boltzmann constant ( or ) is the proportionality factor that relates the average relative kinetic energy of particles in a gas with the thermodynamic temperature of the gas. It occurs in the definitions of the kelvin and the gas constant, ..., T_s is the temperature, d is the molecular diameter and p_s is the pressure. Applications One of the applications of Knudsen layer is in the coma of comets. It has been used speci ...
