Norsk Biografisk Leksikon
is the largest Norwegian biographical encyclopedia. The first edition (NBL1) was issued between 1921 and 1983, including 19 volumes and 5,100 articles. It was published by Aschehoug with economic support from the state. bought the rights to NBL1 from Aschehoug in 1995, and after a pre-project in 1996–97 the work for a new edition began in 1998. The project had economic support from the Fritt Ord Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, and the second edition (NBL2) was launched in the years 1999–2005, including 10 volumes and around 5,700 articles. Peder Jensen Fauchald
Peder Jensen Fauchald (15 November 1791 – 1 July 1856) was a Norway, Norwegian politician. He was elected to the Storting, Norwegian Parliament in 1830, 1833, 1836, 1839, 1842 1845, 1848 and 1851, representing the rural constituency of ''Christians Amt'' (today named Oppland). He was born in Østre Toten. He advocated freedom of religion in general and especially the History of the Jews in Norway, right of Jews to enter Norway (which was granted in 1851). Locally he became mayor of Østre Toten municipality in 1837, was appointed county auditor, and founded the local savings bank. He sat as mayor from 1837 to 1847 and 1850 to 1856, being succeeded by Ole Larsen Hammerstad. He worked as a farmer. There is a Fauchalds gate (street) in Oslo. References

Teis Lundegaard
Theis Jacob Thorkildsen Lundegaard (8 October 1774 – 26 February 1856) was a Norwegian farmer, shipowner and politician. He represented Lister amt (now Vest-Agder) at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly in 1814. He was elected to the Parliament of Norway from 1815 to 1816, from 1821 to 1822, from 1827 to 1833, and in 1845. Background Teis Lundegaard was the son of a peasant farmer in the parish of Austad in Vest-Agder who died when Teis was three years old. He grew up in conditions of poverty. He eventually started trading and soon became the skipper and owner of several coastal freighters. Having become prosperous, he invested in the land and settled in Austad as a well-to-do farmer, becoming a leading man in the community. Kristofer Kristofersson Hjeltnes
Kristofer Frimann Kristofersson Hjeltnes (28 August 1856 – 17 January 1930) was a Norwegian horticulturist, educator and local elected official. He was born at Ulvik in Hordaland, Norway. His parents, Kristofer Frimann Kristofersson Hjeltnes (1823–1910) and Marita Larsdotter Osa (1835–1911), were farmers. He attended Stend Agricultural School and Askov Højskole in Denmark. In 1884, Hjeltnes entered the Vilvorde Horticultural College (''Vilvorde Havebrugsskole'') operated by Stephan Nyeland (1845-1922). Hjeltnes worked to spread horticulture in Western Norway in general, especially fruit growing. He founded the Hjeltnes Horticulture School (''Hjeltnes hagebruksskule'') in Ulvik and managed it from 1901 to 1918. Poet gardener Olav H. Hauge (1908-1994) would later attend this school. Gerhard von der Lippe Gran (9 December 1856 – 7 April 1925) was a Norwegian literary historian, professor, magazine editor, essayist and biographer. Personal life Gran was born in Bergen as the son of merchant Christen Knagenhjelm Gran (1822–1899) and his wife Constance Mowinckel (1827–1889). He was the paternal grandson of politician Jens Gran, and a second cousin of botanist Haaken Hasberg Gran and aviator Tryggve Gran. On the maternal side was a first cousin of Wenche von der Lippe Mowinckel, who was a granddaughter of Jacob von der Lippe and mother of Arthur, Waldemar and Gerhard C. Kallevig. Wenche lived with Gerhard Gran's family while attending school.
