Hans Jacob Arnold Jensen
Hans Jacob Arnold Jensen (12 September 1777 – 3 October 1853) was a Norwegian military officer and politician. Jensen was born at Frogn in Norderhov, Norway. His parents were Thomas Jensen and Giertrud Selmer. He entered military service at the age of 16 in 1793. He graduated from the Norwegian Military Academy ('' Den frie mathematiske Skole'') in Christiania (now Oslo) in 1794. He married Alethe Kreyberg, his third cousin, on February 17, 1836. Johan Gørbitz
Johan Görbitz (8 September 1782 – 3 July 1853) was a Norwegian painter. He is most associated with his portraits of prominent Norwegians. Görbitz was born in Sandviken, Norway. He was one of ten children born to Martin Görbitz (1738-1796) and Lucia Pytter (1762-1825). His father was a successful merchant in Bergen, Norway. In 1798, he was sent to Copenhagen to develop his artistic talents at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 1802, he returned to Bergen, where until 1805 he worked as a portrait painter. From 1805 to 1807, he was again in Copenhagen to continue their education, but then traveled to Dresden and Vienna. In 1809 he moved to Paris, where for many years he remained a popular portrait painter. In 1836, he returned to Norway and settled in Christiania (now Oslo). Herman Garmann
Herman Garmann (27 March 1787 – 23 June 1853) was a Norwegian businessman and merchant. Biography Herman Christopher Garmann was born at Alstahaug, Nordland, Norway. He was the son of Christopher Garmann (1747–1800) and Maren Elisabeth Schanke (1753–1817). Garmann grew up in the rectory of Alstahaug Church where his father was the vicar. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. Valentin Christian Wilhelm Sibbern
Valentin Christian Wilhelm Sibbern (19 September 1779 – 1 January 1853) was a Norwegian government minister and representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly. Biography Valentin Christian Wilhelm Sibbern was born on the Værne Kloster estate at Rygge in Østfold, Norway. In 1793, he became a student at the Royal Danish Military Academy in Copenhagen. He was promoted to First Lieutenant in 1800 and Captain of the cavalry and commander of Rakkestadske Company in 1809. He took the legal examination in 1802. He was promoted to Major in 1812. In 1814, he was appointed district governor of Smaalenenes amt (now Østfold). In 1823, he was also appointed district governor of Akershus. Between 1830 and 1852, he served in different positions within the Norwegian government including Minister of Auditing, Minister of Justice, Minister of the Army and Minister of the Navy.
