Nils Christian Frederik Hals
Nils Christian Frederik Hals (April 23, 1758 – June 27, 1838)''Danmarks adels aarbog''. 1897. Volume 14. Copenhagen, p. 173. was a Norwegian military officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Hals was born in Eidsberg. In March 1814 he was named commander of Fredrikstad Fortress after the commander at the time had declared the fortress to be in such poor condition that it could not be defended in the event of an attack. Hals was of the same opinion and was not eager to take on the position. He received a verbal assurance from the regent of Norway, Christian Fredrik, that the fortress would not be defended if it were attacked. In 1814, the fortress was attacked and encircled by Swedish forces. Among other things, they had landed at Tangen at the southern tip of Kråkerøy and advanced to a position later named Svenskeberget (literally, 'Swedish hill') southwest of the fortress. Jonas Greger Walnum
Jonas Greger Walnum (20 August 1771 – 10 March 1838) was a Norwegian property owner and politician. Walnum was born at Steigen in Nordland, Norway. He was the son of Ole Henriksen Walnum (1740-1773) and Else Marie Greger (1746-1812). He inherited property known as Walnumgodset from his father. He resided in the town Sandnessjøen on the island of Alsta where he was an innkeeper and trader. He married Else Maria Meyer Hersleb (1771-1838), widow of Tøger Pedersen Bech, who was the oldest sister of theologian Svend Borchmann Hersleb. In 1801, Walnum acquired the estate of his father-in-law, Jørgen Sverdrup Hersleb, and settled as proprietary of Nord-Herøy, the largest island in Herøy. He and his wife were the parents of fifteen children. including two sons who became priests with the Church of Norway. Christian Homann Schweigaard
Christian Homann Schweigaard (14 October 1838 – 24 March 1899) was a Norwegian politician of the Conservative Party. He served as the 3rd prime minister for two months in 1884, a period after the impeachment of his predecessor Christian August Selmer called Schweigaard's Ministerium. Schweigaard held a number of key positions, including Chairman of the Conservative Party from 1889–1891 and 1893–1896, as well as Parliamentary Leader from 1889–1891 and 1894–1895. He was Emil Stang's indispensable partner, leading the Conservative Party's policy and organizational development in the 1880s and 1890s.
