Joseph Wild
Joseph Wild (1759–1837) held a number of titles throughout his life, namely a convict, explorer, shepherd, constable and conveyor. He was convicted of burglary and was eventually sentenced to transportation to Australia. This was a common punishment for English convicts during this time period. It was during his time in Australia that Joseph Wild became known for being an explorer. His significance to Australian history stems from his discoveries within the Australian interior. He is most recognised for his contributions to the "discovery of Canberra," Sutton Forest, Jervis Bay, Bathurst, " Wildes Meadow," the discovery of Lake George and the Mongolo river. James Martin (premier)
Sir James Martin, QC (14 May 1820 – 4 November 1886) was three times Premier of New South Wales, and Chief Justice of New South Wales from 1873 to 1886. Early career Martin was born in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland but emigrated with his parents to Sydney, Australia at the age of one. He was educated at Dame's School, Parramatta and, despite his family's poverty, the Sydney Academy and Sydney College under the tutelage of William Timothy Cape, and left school at the age of 16 to become a reporter. In 1838, Martin published the ''Australian Sketch Book'', a series of character sketches he dedicated to Sydney barrister Bob Nichols, for whom he was then working as an articled clerk in 1840. Martin qualified as a solicitor in 1845, and combined his legal career with employment as a newspaper editor and publisher. Campbelltown is a suburb located on the outskirts of the metropolitan area of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Snowy Mountains
The Snowy Mountains, known informally as "The Snowies", is an IBRA subregion in southern New South Wales, Australia, and is the tallest mountain range in mainland Australia, being part of the continent's Great Dividing Range cordillera system. It makes up the northeastern half of the Australian Alps (the other half being the Victorian Alps) and contains Australia's five tallest peaks, all of which are above , including the tallest Mount Kosciuszko, which reaches to a height of above sea level. The offshore Tasmanian highlands makes up the only other major alpine region present in the whole of Australia. Lake George (or Weereewa in the Ngunnawal language) is an Endorheic basin, endorheic lake in south-eastern New South Wales, Australia.
