Helena Quiding
Helena Quiding (19 August 1755 – 2 October 1819) was a Swedish culture personality and socialite, the creator of ''Sommarvillan'' (also known as ''Sommarnöjet'' and during the 18th century as ''Heleneberg''), a historic building at Lilla Skuggan in Djurgården, Stockholm. She was a friend of Swedish poet Carl Michael Bellman, and she and circle of friends at her summer house, then known as ''Heleneberg'', is frequently mentioned in Bellman's poems and songs. Life Quiding was the daughter of the wealthy brännvinmerchant Johan Henric Lindberg (1719–1777) and his wife Helena Berg (1729–1788). Her parents were wealthy and owned real estate on Drottninggatan and Fredsgatan in the centre of Stockholm. She married in 1776 to the spicemerchant Bengt Christopher Quiding (1746–1797), and had a son, Bernhard Christopher (1778–1846). Elsa Beata Bunge
Elsa Beata Bunge, née Wrede (18 April 1734 – 19 January 1819), was a Swedish botanist, writer and noble. Biography Elsa Beata was born 18 April 1734. She was the daughter of statesman and noble, baron Fabian Wrede, and Katarina Charlotta Sparre. In 1761, she married the statesman Count Sven Bunge. She was an enthusiastic amateur botanist and had large greenhouses set up at her manor Beateberga; the name of the estate means "The Mountain of Beata". Bunge was connected to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and corresponded with Carl von Linné. Her spouse was a member of the academy, and from 1780 forward, she corresponded with the academy, discussed scientific botanical experiments and reported results. Jacob Axelsson Lindblom
Jacob Axelsson Lindblom (27 July 1746 – 15 February 1819) was a Swedish scholar and professor who became Archbishop of Uppsala, a position he held between 1805–1819. Biography Axelsson Lindblom was born at Skeda in Östergötland, the son of a clergyman. He received his secondary education at Linköping gymnasium and matriculated at Uppsala University in 1763. He became student of the philologist Johan Ihre and the Latinist Petrus Ekerman (1696–1783) who was also inspector of the student society Östgöta nation (Uppsala). He worked as a tutor for a noble family in Livonia 1764–1766, came back to Uppsala where he completed his magister degree in 1770. After having worked as a docent and a librarian at the university library, he became an extraordinary professor in 1779 and was appointed to the Skyttean professorship of Eloquence and Political Science in 1781, after the death of his teacher Johan Ihre. Cecilia Cleve
Cecilia Cleve, née Dahlin (died 8 February 1819), was a pioneering Swedish librarian, considered by some to be the first female librarian in Sweden. Cecilia Cleve was the sister of the fashionable furniture maker and designer Nils Dahlin. She married Freidrich August Cleve from Magdeburg in Germany, who was active as a printer, and who in 1787 opened what is sometimes referred to as the first lending library in Stockholm. When she became a widow in 1796, Cecilia Cleve renounced the guild printer privilege to which she was entitled after her late spouse. However, she kept his right to keep a public lending library, and managed it until her death. She did this despite having a widow pension that was sufficient to support herself and her foster children. She catalogued the books in alphabetic order, which was at the time an innovation, quarterly subscriptions and advertises in the country papers. Sophia Isberg
Helena Sophia Isberg (18 February 1819 – 28 February 1875) was a Swedish wood-cut artist. Also known as ''Jungfru Isberg'' (Maiden Isberg). Helena Isberg was born at Säby in Tranås in Småland. She moved with her parents and brother to Motala in 1840, where she lived her entire life. Her father was a cabinet maker. Isberg was tutored by her father to cabinet maskery, lathing and carving, and was to become famous for her wood carving. In 1847, her work was exhibited in Stockholm, and made a success. She was asked to move to Stockholm, the professor Carl Gustaf Qvarnström (1810–1867) offered her a scholarship to study at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, Queen Josephine offered her an allowance of $200, but she declined every offer.
