In the philologist and fantasy author J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth fiction, a warg is a particularly large and evil kind of wolf that could be ridden by orcs. He derived the name and characteristics of his wargs by combining meanings and myths from Old Norse and Old English. In Norse mythology, a ''vargr'' ( anglicised as warg) is a wolf, especially the wolf Fenrir that destroyed the god Odin in the battle of Ragnarök, and the wolves Sköll and Hati who perpetually chase the Sun and Moon. In Old English, a ''wearh'' is an outcast who may be strangled to death. Through Tolkien's influence, wargs have featured in fantasy books by authors including George R. R. Martin, and in media such as video games and role-playing games. Helena Quiding
Helena Quiding (19 August 1755 – 2 October 1819) was a Swedish culture personality and socialite, the creator of ''Sommarvillan'' (also known as ''Sommarnöjet'' and during the 18th century as ''Heleneberg''), a historic building at Lilla Skuggan in Djurgården, Stockholm. She was a friend of Swedish poet Carl Michael Bellman, and she and circle of friends at her summer house, then known as ''Heleneberg'', is frequently mentioned in Bellman's poems and songs. Life Quiding was the daughter of the wealthy brännvinmerchant Johan Henric Lindberg (1719–1777) and his wife Helena Berg (1729–1788). Count Hans Henric von Essen (26 September 1755 – 28 June 1824) was a Swedish officer, courtier and statesman. Biography Hans Henric von Essen was born at Kavlås Castle in Tidaholm Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. He was a member of the Essen family. He was educated at Uppsala University. He entered the army, becoming a cornet at age 18. He accompanied Gustav III in his travels and campaigns. He accompanied Gustav III at the 1792 masquerade ball at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm on 16 March 1792, where the king was shot and mortally injured. Adolf Ludvig Stierneld
Adolf Ludvig Stierneld, Baron Stierneld (1 September 1755 – 31 July 1835) was a Swedish nobleman, courtier and collector of historical documents. Recent historical research has revealed him to be one of best and most prolific document forgers in Swedish history. Biography He was the son of Samuel Gustaf Stierneld and Kristina Brigitta Falker. In 1781, his father inscribed him to the military to become captain of the Royal Life Regiment of Horse. From 1778 onward, he served as courtier to Sophia Magdalena, Queen consort of Sweden. Stierneld appeared among the opposition to Gustavus III, King of Sweden in the Riksdag of 1786 and 1789, where he was one of the leaders of the nobility. Cajsa Warg
Anna Christina Warg (23March 17035February 1769), better known as Cajsa (or Kajsa) Warg, was a Swedish cookbook author and one of the best-known cooks in Swedish history. Early life Warg was born in Örebro, the younger of two daughters, to accountant Anders Warg (died 1708) and Karin Livijn (died 1755). In 1710, her mother married the nobleman Eric Rosenstråle, with whom she had seven more children and moved with to Borggård Manor outside Finspång. Career Warg left home early to be the cook and housekeeper for several powerful people in Stockholm, such as the general Count Wolter Reinhold von Stackelberg.
