In the August 27, 1810 initial election, only two candidates won a majority, so a second election was held April 1, 1811 for the remaining three seats, after the congressional term began but before the Congress formally convened. The general ticket, also known as party block voting (PBV) or ticket voting, is a type of block voting in which voters opt for a party, or a team's set list of candidates, and the highest-polling party/team becomes the winner. James Wilson I (New Hampshire Politician)
James Wilson (August 16, 1766 – January 4, 1839) was a U.S. Representative from New Hampshire, father of James Wilson (1797-1881). Born in Peterborough, New Hampshire, Wilson attended Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard University in 1789. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1792, commencing practice in Peterborough. He served as member of the State house of representatives 1803-1808 and 1812–1814. Wilson was elected as a Federalist to the Eleventh Congress (March 4, 1809 – March 3, 1811). Nathaniel Appleton Haven (July 19, 1762 – March 13, 1831) was an American politician, a physician, and served as a U.S. Representative from New Hampshire. Early life Haven was born in Portsmouth in the Province of New Hampshire. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy, where he graduated in 1807 with distinctions. He then pursued classical studies, was educated by the Reverend Dr. Nathaniel Appleton, and graduated in medicine from Harvard College in 1779. Career Haven practiced his profession in Portsmouth and also engaged in mercantile pursuits, and was editor of the Portsmouth Journal until 1825. Serving as a ship's surgeon in the latter part of the Revolutionary War, Haven was captured by the British and was a prisoner of war aboard the Jersey prison ship at New York for a short time. John Curtis Chamberlain (June 5, 1772December 8, 1834) was an American attorney and Federalist politician in the U.S. state of New Hampshire who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives and as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Early life Chamberlain was born in Worcester in the Province of Massachusetts Bay. He graduated from Harvard University in 1793. He read law, being superintended by Benjamin West of Charleston. He was admitted to the bar in 1796 and began practicing law in Alstead, New Hampshire. Career Chamberlain wrote a series of essays as The Hermit which appeared for a year or more in "The Farmer's Museum" beginning in the summer of 1796. John Adams Harper
John Adams Harper (November 2, 1779 – June 18, 1816) was an American politician and a United States Representative from New Hampshire. Early life Born in Derryfield, New Hampshire, Harper attended Phillips Exeter Academy in 1794. He studied law and was admitted to the bar about 1802, commencing practice in Sanbornton. Career Harper was the first postmaster of Sanbornton, then moved to Meredith Bridge (now Laconia, Belknap County) in 1806. He served as clerk of the New Hampshire Senate, 1805–1808, was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1809 and 1810. He served in the State militia, 1809–1812. Daniel Blaisdell (January 22, 1762 – January 10, 1833) was an American teacher, farmer, politician and judge. He served as a United States representative from New Hampshire, as a member of the New Hampshire Senate and as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives during the early 1800s. Early life Born in Amesbury in the Province of Massachusetts Bay, Blaisdell was the son of Elijah and Mary (Sargent) Blaisdell. He attended the public schools and served in the American Revolutionary War from August 1776 - August 1777. After his war service, Blaisdell moved to Canaan, New Hampshire, in 1780. He taught school, engaged in agricultural pursuits and acquired some legal knowledge. Obed Hall (December 23, 1757 – April 1, 1828) was an American politician and a United States representative from New Hampshire. Early life Born in Raynham in the Province of Massachusetts Bay, Hall later moved to Madbury and then to Bartlett, Carroll County, New Hampshire and engaged in agricultural pursuits. Career Since travel at that time was hazardous, Hall became an innkeeper at his farm, which was considered benefactor to the traveling public rather than businessman.
