The 17th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) was elected at the 17th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party on 21 October 2007. The 17th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party was held in Beijing, China, at the Great Hall of the People from 15 to 21 October 2007. Congress marked a significant shift in the political direction of the country as CCP General Secretary Hu Jintao solidified his position of leadership. Hu's signature policy doctrine, the Scientific Development Concept, which aimed to create a "Socialist Harmonious Society" through egalitarian wealth distribution and concern for the country's less well-off, was enshrined into the Party Constitution. Wang Zhigang
Wang Zhigang (; born October 1957) is a Chinese information engineer who currently serves as Minister of Science and Technology since March 2018. Previously, he served as general manager of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, a state-owned military industrial complex. He is a member of the 19th CPC Central Committee and a former member of the 18th CPC Central Committee. He is a member of the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. Biography Wang was born in Dingyuan County, Anhui in October 1957. In January 1976, during the late Down to the Countryside Movement, he was a sent-down youth in Changshan Commune of Chuzhou. Bagatur or Bater ( mn, ; born February 1955) is a Chinese politician of Mongol ancestry, formerly serving as the Chairman of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. A career party functionary with background in the Communist Youth League, Bagatur steadily ascended the ranks of government, spending his entire career in Inner Mongolia. Wang Guanzhong (; born February 1953) is a retired general (''shang jiang'') of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). He served as a deputy chief of the Joint Staff and was a member of the 18th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. Biography Wang Guanzhong was born in February 1953 in Zhaodong, Heilongjiang Province. He joined the PLA in December 1970, serving in the army artillery force in the Shenyang Military Region. He became an officer in 1974 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in the same year. From 1978 to 1979 he studied at the PLA Xi'an Political Academy. From 1983 to 1986 he studied at the graduate school of the Central Party School on a full-time basis. Wang Hongzhang (; born July 1954) is a Chinese economist and banker who served as party boss and chairman of China Construction Bank, one of the " big four" banks in China. Wang was an alternate member of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
