Claus Fasting
Claus Fasting (29 October 1746 – 25 December 1791) was a Norwegian playwright, literary critic, editor and civil servant. Among his literary works were the song ''Harmonisang'' (1769) and his journals ''Provinzialsamlinger'' (1791). Biography Claus Frederik Fasting was born in Bergen, Norway. He was the only child of Fredrik Fasting (1718-69) who was vicar at Nykirken and his wife, Gerhardina von Güllich (1715-70). He studied at the University of Copenhagen where he received his philosophical and theological degree in 1766. In 1768 he returned to Bergen, where his father died the following year. In 1770, his mother died and he returned to Copenhagen. In 1772, he co-founded The Norwegian Society (''Norske Selskab''), a literary society for Norwegian students in Copenhagen. He published the prize-winning play ''Hermine'' in 1772, a metrical tragedy and in 1773 he delivered the play as a participant in a competition announced by the Royal Danish Theatre. Hans Glad Bloch
Hans Glad Bloch (16 September 1791 – 31 December 1865) was a Norwegian military officer and government official. Born in Sør-Odal, he reached the rank of General in 1850. His career included a period as commander of the Norwegian Military Academy (1835–38) and commanding positions at the fortresses of Bergenhus and Fredriksten. He also worked as a surveyor while in the military, and in 1823 he released a road map of Norway. Gjest Baardsen
Gjest Baardsen (1791 – 13 May 1849) was a Norwegian outlaw, jail-breaker, non-fiction writer, songwriter and memoirist. He was among the most notorious criminals in Norway in the 19th century. Personal life Baardsen was born in Sogndalsfjøra, the son of fisherman Baard Gjestsen Fjæren and Maritha Pedersdatter. His father died in 1793. Baardsen married Anne Elisabeth Reinche in 1848. His wife had two children with another man before the marriage. Criminal life and literary career Baardsen was arrested several times for theft, and became legendary for his many successful escapes. From 1827 he served a life sentence at Akershus Prison, where he started a career as writer. The first parts of his autobiography were published from 1835. He was held at Akershus for 18 years. Olaf Rye (16 November 1791 – 6 July 1849) was a Denmark–Norway, Norwegian-Danish military officer. He died in battle during the First Schleswig War and is considered to have been a Danish war hero.
