Christoffer Christian (or ''Kristofer Kristian'') Karsten (9 September 1756 – 6 August 1827) was a Swedish opera singer. He was the maternal grandfather of the ballerina Marie Taglioni. Life Born in Ystad, he was discovered by queen Louisa Ulrika of Prussia in 1771, when he sang for her on her way to her visit to Berlin, and so impressed her that she gave him the opportunity to study singing in Stockholm. Career In 1773 he debuted at the Royal Swedish Opera in Bollhuset with Carl Stenborg and Elisabeth Olin in the famous opera performance ''Thetis och Phelée''. He was employed at the opera's choir until he performed his first leading role as Adonis in the opera ballet ''Adonis''. Olof Åhlström
Olof Åhlström (15 August 1756 – 11 August 1835) was a Swedish civil servant, composer and music publisher. Åhlström was born in a peasant family in Vårdinge parish in Södermanland. He received early musical lessons from the parish organist but left his home at the age of sixteen to enroll in the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. He was appointed organist in the Stockholm parish of Maria Magdalena in 1777 and moved to Jakob parish in 1792. In addition to his professional life as a musician, he took a clerk's position in ''Krigskollegium'' (the War Office), where in 1805 he reached the position of ''krigsråd'' ("War Councillor"). He retired from his position in ''Krigskollegium'' in 1824, but stayed as organist in Jakob until his death eleven years later. His own compositions include a large number of songs, among them many poems by Anna Maria Lenngren, who was his sister-in-law, that he had set to music. Gustaf Adolf Reuterholm
Baron Gustaf Adolf Reuterholm (7 July 1756 in Sjundeå, Nyland, Sweden (now Finland) – 27 December 1813 in Schleswig), was a Swedish statesman. He acted as the de facto regent of Sweden during the minor regency of Gustav IV Adolf of Sweden between 1792 and 1796. Early career After a brief military career he was appointed Kammarherre to Sophia Magdalena, queen consort of Gustav III of Sweden and subsequently became intimately connected with the king's brother, Charles, then duke of Södermanland. He remained in the background throughout the reign of Gustavus III, whom he constantly opposed, particularly through the clandestine Walhalla-orden which he co-founded in Sveaborg. Joseph Martin Kraus (20 June 1756 – 15 December 1792), was a German-Swedish composer in the Classical era who was born in Miltenberg am Main, Germany. He moved to Sweden at age 21, and died at the age of 36 in Stockholm. He has been referred to as "the Swedish Mozart", and had a life span very similar to Mozart's. Life Childhood Kraus was born in the South German town of Miltenberg in Lower Franconia, the son of Joseph Bernhard Kraus, a county clerk in the Archbishopric of Mainz, and Anna Dorothea née Schmidt. Maria Elisabet De Broen
Maria Elisabet de Broen née Grundt (23 April 1756 – 1 May 1809), was a Swedish translator and theatre manager. Biography She was the daughter of Isak Grundt and married the actor and theatre director Abraham de Broen in 1780; they had eight children, many of whom became well known actors. She was the mother of Isaac de Broen and grandmother of Charlotta Deland. After the death of her husband in 1804, she took over the ''Djurgårdsteatern'', at the time the only theatre allowed in the capital aside for the Royal Dramatic Theatre, and worked successfully as its manager until her death. Under her guidance the theatre also toured the country and visited Gothenburg several times. Broen was a personality of the contemporary cultural world in Sweden.
