Jens Kraft
Jens Kraft (1720–1765) was a Dano- Norwegian mathematician and philosopher. He was born in Frederikshald in Norway, but at age 5 he became an orphan and was subsequently raised by his uncle in Thy in Jutland. As a philosopher he introduced the study of ontology to Scandinavian academic circles. He was influenced by Christian Wolff whilst still a student at Copenhagen, attending a lecture by Wolff while visiting Halle. He was appointed professor of philosophy at the Sorø Academy, where he responded to Baumgarten's ''Metaphsica'' with his own text ''metaphysik''. Both divided their work into '' cosmologie'', '' ontologie'', '' psykologie'' and '' naturlig theologie''. Peter Tordenskjold
Peter Jansen Wessel Tordenskiold (28 October 1690 – 12 November 1720), commonly referred to as Tordenskjold (), was a Norwegian nobleman and flag officer who spent his career in the service of the Royal Dano-Norwegian Navy. He rose to the rank of vice-admiral for his services in the Great Northern War. Born in the Norwegian city of Trondheim, Peter Wessel travelled to Copenhagen in 1704, and eventually enlisted in the navy. He won a name for himself through audacity and courage, and was ennobled as ''Peter Tordenskiold'' by King Frederick IV in 1716. His greatest exploit came later that year, as he destroyed the supply fleet of Charles XII of Sweden at the Battle of Dynekilen, ensuring his siege of Fredriksten would end in failure. In 1720, he was killed in a duel. In both Denmark and Norway he ranks among the most famous naval captains. He experienced an unusually rapid rise in rank and died when he was only 30 years old. Jens Bircherod
Jens Bircherod (3 February 1664–25 January 1720) was a Danish theologian and priest. He served as a bishop of the Diocese of Christianssand from 1705 until his death in 1720. Personal life Jens Bircherod was born on 3 February 1664 in Copenhagen, Denmark. His parents were the priest Jens Jensen Bircherod and his first wife. He was married to Elen Dorthea Lemvig. Education and career He received a private education in Copenhagen finishing in 1679. In 1680, he received his baccalaureate degree. He then went on to travel to some foreign universities, returning home in 1688 and graduated with a magister's degree. In 1689, he was hired as the parish priest for Gladsaxe. In 1705, he was appointed to be the Bishop of the Diocese of Christianssand. Tordenskiold was the name of two dignities in Danish nobility, the Danish and Norwegian nobility, the Norwegian nobility. Both are today patrilineally extinct. Tordenskiold I Peter Tordenskjold, Peter Jansen Wessel was a Norway, Norwegian/Danish naval hero who for his braveness was ennobled under the name ''Tordenskiold''. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957.
