16volt is an American industrial rock band featuring Eric Powell, with other performers added for live shows. History 16volt was formed in Portland, Oregon by composer and vocalist Eric Powell. Powell recruited musicians drummer Joel Bornzin, guitarist Jon Fell and Jeff Taylor to record "Motorskills", which debuted on ''The Cyberflesh Conspiracy'' various artist compilation by If It Moves... That band released their first full-length studio album ''Wisdom'' on May 25, 1993, after signing to Re-Constriction Records. The album received critical attention for its industrial-informed beats and abrasive electronic textures. The band continued to issue album's via Re-Constriction for the next three albums: ''Skin'' (1994), '' LetDownCrush'' (1996), and '' SuperCoolNothing'' (1998). ''Beating Dead Horses'' is the seventh studio album by American industrial rock band 16volt, released on May 5, 2011 by Metropolis Records. Reception Brutal Resonance commended the production quality and composition variety of ''Beating Dead Horses'', saying "there are some tracks on this album that vary but most of the tracks follow the same line and it's a pretty straight forward album." ''FullBlackHabit'' is the fifth studio album by 16volt, released on June 19, 2007 by Metropolis Records. The album's title was directly inspired by the 1987 film '' FullMetalJacket''. Early versions of the song "Suffering You" previously debuted on the soundtrack to the 2003 PlayStation 2 video game ''Primal'' and later appeared the band's greatest hits album in 2005. Wisdom (album)
''Wisdom'' is the debut studio album of 16volt, released on May 25, 1993, by Re-Constriction Records. It was produced with the aide of Skinny Puppy composer and musician Dave Ogilvie. Background 16volt sent a demo tape to college radio stations and caught the attention of future label owner and DJ Chase (label manager), Chase. From the band's demos, Chase petitioned Cargo Music to begin Re-Constriction Records and make ''Wisdom'' the label's third release. "Motorskills", which would become the first track on ''Wisdom'', appeared on the compilation ''The Cyberflesh Conspiracy''. ''LetDownCrush'' is the third studio album by 16volt, released on August 7, 1996 by Cargo and Re-Constriction Records. Reception AllMusic awarded ''LetDownCrush'' three out of five possible stars. ''Aiding & Abetting'' gave the album a mixed review as well, calling ''LetDownCrush'' "diverse, and while obviously not a live-to-tape session, more immediate-sounding" and praised the songs for being "tight and vicious."
