Oliger Paulli
Oliger (Holger) Paulli (March 18, 1644 – 1714), also spelt as Olliger Paulli, was a wealthy Danish merchant from an influential family, pamphleteer, religious fanatic, and publisher. He was renowned for his over-zealous activities for the return of Jewish people to their promised holy land. He was well known for claiming his great-grandfather, "Simon Paulli (Sr.)", as a Jew and descendant of the royal line of David. His controversial promulgations and religiously fanatical publications such as ''The Dove of Noah'' and ''The Triumph of the Stone cut without Hands'' created hopes and theological tensions among major religions of those days. Corfits Ulfeldt (naval Officer)
Corfits Mogensen Ulfeldt (c. 1600 - October 1644) was a Denmark, Danish naval officer. He was a cousin of the much more famous traitor Corfitz Ulfeldt (1606–1664). He is known in the annals of whaling as the man who drove the French out of Spitsbergen. Ulfeldt later fought and died in the Torstenson War. Family Ulfeldt was the son of Council of State member and High Admiral (''Rigsadmiral'') Mogens Ulfeldt (1569-1616) and Anne Christensdatter Lange (Munk). He was the grandson of Jacob Ulfeldt (1535–1593), who served as a member of the Council of State (Denmark), privy council. He had a sister and at least two brothers: Anne Mogensen Ulfeldt (1598-1655), Jacob Mogensen Ulfeldt (c.1600–c.1670) and Christian Mogensen Ulfeldt. He was married to Else Andersdatter Thot (d. 1652), widow of Hans Hansen Lindenov (d. 1620). Leonhard Blasius (also spelled Lennart, Leinert, Lineest) (died 8 December 1644) was a Danish architect in the service of King Christian IV. Biography Blasius, who was certainly a Dutchman, probably arrived in Denmark from the Netherlands where he first worked in Glückstadt, Holstein, in the 1630s. Pros Mund (ca. 1589–13 October 1644) was a Danish-Norwegian admiral during the Thirty Years War. Early life Pros Mund was born in Eidanger in Norway and was the son of Nils Sørensen Mund of Bjerkevold and Ingeborg Prosdatter Hørby. He became naval lieutenant in 1624 and was promoted to captain in 1628. That year he was stationed in the southern part of the Baltic Sea, where he counteracted the Imperial designs for a fleet based in Rostock, Warnemünde, Wismar, and Greifswald, also supporting the defense of Stralsund. In 1630 he was sent first to the Faroe Islands and the coast of Norway to defend trade shipping against piracy and later participated in the fight against Hamburg on the Elbe, where he patrolled with two ships the following year. He then patrolled the North Sea and the Norwegian coast, in 1633 as chief of a fleet squadron. Jens Bang
Jens Bang (c. 1575 - 20 February 1644) was a wealthy Danish merchant. Biography Born in Horsens, he was the son of merchant Oluf Bang. His older half-brother was the mayor, Jørgen Olufsen. Bang arrived in Aalborg at the age of 22 where he was apprenticed to a merchant. He purchased a large plot of land in 1621 on the corner of Algade and Østerå where, in 1623-24, he built a large stone house, which came to be known as Jens Bang's House. He may have been trying to out-do his older brother, Olufsen, who had built a large stone house in 1616 at 25 Østerå, which came to be known as Jørgen Olufsen's House Jørgen Olufsen's House ( da, Jørgen Olufsen's Gård) is located in Aalborg, Denmark. Ole Rømer
Ole Christensen Rømer (; 25 September 1644 – 19 September 1710) was a Danish astronomer who, in 1676, made the first measurement of the speed of light. Rømer also invented the modern thermometer showing the temperature between two fixed points, namely the points at which water respectively boils and freezes. In scientific literature, alternative spellings such as "Roemer", "Römer", or "Romer" are common. Biography Rømer was born on 25 September 1644 in Århus to merchant and skipper Christen Pedersen (died 1663), and Anna Olufsdatter Storm ( – 1690), daughter of a well-to-do alderman. Since 1642, Christen Pedersen had taken to using the name Rømer, which means that he was from the Danish island of Rømø, to distinguish himself from a couple of other people named Christen Pedersen.
