The Royal Armoury ( sv, Livrustkammaren) is a museum in the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden. It contains many artifacts of Swedish military history and Swedish royalty. It is the oldest museum in Sweden, established in 1628 by King Gustavus Adolphus when he decided that his clothes from his campaign in Poland should be preserved for posterity. A drinking horn made from a horn of the last aurochs bull and taken by the Swedish army as war booty from Jaktorów, Poland, during the Swedish invasion of Poland (1655–1660) is part of the collection of the museum. Nearly 400 years later, DNA testing revealed that a person initially thought to be male, named "Gustav," was actually female. This discovery, and others, provide insights into 17th-century Sweden, according to Vasa Museum director Fred Hocker. Amalia von Hatzfeld (1560 – 23 September 1628), was a Swedish countess. She was the governor of Raseborg in 1600–1607. Amalia von Hatzfeld was born to Vilhelm von Hatzfeld and Sibylla von Rodenhausen. Prior to her marriage, she served as maid of honor to Princess Maria. Gustaf Düben (also spelt Gustav) (1624/1628December 19, 1690) was a Swedish organist and composer. Personal life Early life Düben was born in the 1620s in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of the German-born Andreas Düben, an organist, and Anna Maria Gabriels, lady's maid of Maria Eleonora of Brandenburg. Düben was sent by his father to Germany for education in his youth. He was a student of Sweelinck. Family In 1654, Düben married Dutch merchant's daughter Emerentia Standaert. They had at least nine children. Career In 1647 Gustav became part of the Swedish royal court orchestra, the ''Kungliga Hovkapellet'', where he would succeed as Hofkapellmeister in 1663 after the death of his father the previous year. Märta Allertz
Märta Allertz (1628 – before 1677), often wrongly referred to as Brita Allerts, was the royal mistress of Charles X Gustav of Sweden. She was the mother of the illegitimate son of Charles X, Gustaf Carlson. The year of her death is unknown: she is last confirmed alive in 1665, and was surely dead by 1677, when her death estate was listed. Allertz was the daughter of the wealthy Stockholm city councillor Claes Allerts (d. 1650) and the successful wheat merchant Britta Jacobsdotter. She became introduced for the future Charles X and his siblings because of their parents' business associations: her wealthy parents helped the parents of Charles X economically, and her mother had a business arrangement with John Casimir in which she sold the wheat produced in the Stegeborg County, where John Casimir was the governor. David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl (23 September 1628 – 23 October 1698) was a Sweden, Swedish nobleman and portrait painter. Biography David Klöcker was born in Hamburg. He was the son of Johann Klöcker and had eight siblings. In 1648, Klöcker traveled to Amsterdam where he learned how to paint following the instructions from Juriaen Jacobsze (1624–1685). In 1652, he left his art studies in the Netherlands and moved to Skokloster Castle (''Skoklosters slott'') on Lake Mälaren, Sweden at the request of Swedish nobleman Carl Gustaf Wrangel (1613–1676). Between 1654 and 1661 he studied in Italy and visited the courts of both France and England. On his return he became entitled Court painter (''hovkonterfejare'') in 1661. He was raised to the nobility in 1674 at which time he took the surname Ehrenstråhl. He became court intendant in 1690. Christian Thum also known as även von Thum, Thumb, Theun and Thun (d. 1655), was a Swedish (originally German) actor and theater director. He belongs to the earliest identifiable professional actors active in Sweden, was the leader of the theater of the Swedish royal court in 1628-1645, and the founder of the likely first theater in Sweden and Scandinavia, '' Björngårdsteatern '' (1640). Margareta i Kumla ('Margareta of Kumla') also known as the ''Sibyl of Kumla'' ('Prophetess of Kumla'), or ''Kumlapigan'' ('Maid of Kumla'), (died after 1628), was a Swedish visionary, who claimed to be possessed. She became the target of pilgrimages when claiming to be the channel of the words of the angels. Life Margareta was born to Johannes Laurentii, the Vicar of Kumla since 1619.
