Samuel Dirksz Van Hoogstraten
Samuel Dirksz van Hoogstraten (2 August 1627, in Dordrecht – 19 October 1678, in Dordrecht) was a Dutch painter of the Golden Age, who was also a poet and author on art theory. Biography Samuel Dirksz van Hoogstraten trained first with his father Dirk van Hoogstraten and stayed in Dordrecht until about 1640. On the death of his father, he moved to Amsterdam where he entered the workshop of Rembrandt. A short time later, he started out on his own as a master and painter of portraits. He later made several travels which took him (1651) to Vienna, Rome and London, finally retiring to Dordrecht. There he married in 1656, and held an appointment as provost of the mint. Paintings and etches A sufficient number of Van Hoogstraten's works have been preserved to show that he strove to imitate different styles at different times. Onorio Marinari
Onorio Marinari (1627 – January 5, 1715) was an Italian painter and printmaker of the Baroque period, active mainly in Florence. His father, Sigismondo di Pietro Marinari, was also a painter, and he trained with his cousin, Carlo Dolci, later being also influenced by Simone Pignoni and Francesco Furini. His fresco in the Palazzo Capponi, Florence, is dated 1707. He worked mainly in Florence for Florentine and Tuscan clients, but he did not devote himself only to painting. In fact, in 1674, he published an essay on astronomy entitled ''Fabbrica ed uso dell' Annulo Astronomico''. Philip Fruytiers
Philip Fruytiers (1610–1666) was a Flemish Baroque painter and engraver. Until the 1960s, he was especially known for his miniature portraits in watercolor and gouache. History He is also known as ''Giusto Le Court'' ''Giusto Cort'' or ''Josse Lecurt'' or ''Josse Cort''. He obtained some training in Rome by François Duquesnoy. His masterpiece is the theatrical and dynamic high altar sculptural complex depicting the ''Queen of Heaven expelling the Plague'' for the church of Santa Maria della Salute in Venice. It depicts the Virgin Mary saving pleading figures and scattering the personified evil of the plague. He also completed part of the '' Morosini Monument'' in San Clemente all'Isola in Venice. Alexander Coosemans (1627, Antwerp –1689, Antwerp) was a Flemish Baroque painter specialized in still lifes of flower pieces, fruit, and inanimate subjects. He painted vanitas still lifes, pronkstillevens and game pieces. Life Very little is known about the life of Coosemans. He was born in Antwerp where he was baptized on 18 March 1627.
