15th Canadian Comedy Awards
The 15th Canadian Comedy Awards, presented by the Canadian Comedy Foundation for Excellence (CCFE), honoured the best live, television, film, and Internet comedy of 2013. The awards ceremony was hosted by Tom Green and held at the Ottawa Little Theatre on 14 September 2014. Canadian Comedy Awards, also known as Beavers, were awarded in 30 categories. Winners in 7 categories were chosen by the public through an online poll and others were chosen by members of industry organizations. The awards ceremony was part of the Canadian Comedy Awards Festival which ran from 10 to 14 September and included over 20 comedy events. The film ''Sex After Kids'' and TV series '' Satisfaction'' led with seven nominations each. The big winner was Nathan Fielder who won three Beavers for writing, directing, and performing in TV series ''Nathan for You''. Jeremy Lalonde won two Beavers for ''Sex After Kids''. Ottawa Little Theatre
The Ottawa Little Theatre, originally called the Ottawa Drama League at its inception in 1913, is the longest continuously running community theatre in Canada, and one of the oldest in North America. Based in Canada's capital city, it owns its own 360-seat theatre where it presents three-week runs of nine plays per season from September through July. The OLT's longevity and success are impressive, especially as it receives no regular government funding. In 1970, when the Little Theatre (originally a church that had been renovated in 1928) was completely destroyed by fire, the OLT built and opened a new theatre on the same site within two years, and retired the debt within five years. The OLT's income is generated almost entirely from ticket sales and donations. All its directors, actors, designers and stage crew are volunteers. The Great White North
Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of fictional Canadian brothers who hosted "Great White North", a sketch which was introduced on '' SCTV'' for the show's third season when it moved to CBC Television in 1980. Bob is played by Rick Moranis and Doug is played by Dave Thomas. Although created originally as filler to both satisfy and mock network Canadian content demands, the duo became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The characters were later revived for an animated series, '' Bob & Doug'', which premiered on Global in 2009. Jonathan David Dore (born November 2, 1975) is a Canadian comedian and actor currently based in Juneau, Alaska. Education Dore attended Brookfield High School and studied broadcasting at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Career Jon Dore was formerly a correspondent for CTV's ''Canadian Idol''.
