The list of Norwegian monarchs ( no, kongerekken or ''kongerekka'') begins in 872: the traditional dating of the Battle of Hafrsfjord, after which victorious King Harald Fairhair merged several petty kingdoms into that of his father. Frederick II Of Denmark And Norway
Frederick II (1 July 1534 – 4 April 1588) was King of Denmark and Norway and Duke of Schleswig and Holstein from 1559 until his death. A member of the House of Oldenburg, Frederick began his personal rule of Denmark-Norway at the age of 24. He inherited a capable and strong kingdom, formed in large by his father after the civil war known as the Count's Feud, after which Denmark saw a period of economic recovery and of a great increase in the centralised authority of the Crown. Frederick was, especially in his youth and unlike his father, belligerent and adversarial, aroused by honor and national pride, and so he began his reign auspiciously with a campaign under the aged Johan Rantzau, which reconquered Dithmarschen. However, after miscalculating the cost of the Northern Seven Years' War, he pursued a more prudent foreign policy. Porsgrunn
is a city and municipality in Telemark in the county of Vestfold og Telemark in Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Grenland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Porsgrunn. The municipality of Porsgrunn was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The town of Brevik and the rural district of Eidanger were merged into the municipality of Porsgrunn on 1 January 1964. The conurbation of Porsgrunn and Skien is considered by Statistics Norway to be the seventh-largest city in Norway. Peder Claussøn Friis
Peder Claussøn Friis (1 April 1545 – 15 October 1614) was a Norwegian clergyman, author and historian. He is most associated with his translation of ''Snorre Sturlessøns Norske Kongers Chronica''. Peder Claussen Friis grew up in Audnedal in the county of Vest-Agder, Norway. Dating from about 1550, his father, Claus Friis, had been a minister in the Sør-Audnedal parish, of Lindesnes, Vest-Agder. Friis received his initial education under the direction of the bishop of Diocese of Stavanger. Friis started his duties as a priest at age 20 as chaplain under his father. When his father died in 1566, Friis took over the position as vicar and was the same year appointed as provost of the Deanery of Lista. Sør-Audnedal parish was sizable covering the Lindesnes peninsula and the lower part of Audnedal, west of Mandal including churches in Valle, Vigmostad and Spangereid. Heine Havreki
Heine Johnsøn Havreki (1514–1576) or ''Heine the shipwrecked'' was a Norwegian born Lutheran pastor who helped introduce the Protestant Reformation on the Faroe Islands. Biography Heine Johnsøn was reportedly born in Bergen, Norway the son of Jon Haraldson, an Icelandic Roman Catholic minister. While Havreki was studying in Bergen, he and some other students were travelling to Iceland but were caught up in bad weather and shipwrecked in the Faroe islands. They were taken care of by a local woman, Herborg of Húsavík, with whom he subsequently became married. Together they had a son Jógvan Heinason (1541–1602) and daughter Herborg Heinadottir (born 1542). In 1534, he served as deputy to Ámundur Olavsson, the last Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of the Faroe Islands.
