153rd (Highland) Transport Regiment, Royal Corps of Transport, was a regiment of the Territorial Army in the United Kingdom. History The regiment was formed from 433 (Forth) Regiment, Royal Corps of Transport in 1967. It consisted of three transport squadrons. A third transport squadron, 239 Squadron, was formed in 1969 taking many of the soldiers who had served in The Fife and Forfar Yeomanry/Scottish Horse when it was converted into a cadre in that year. Princess Alice visited the regiment in 1982. In 1992, 239 Squadron converted to re-form the Forfar Yeomanry/Scottish Horse Squadron of The Scottish Yeomanry. The Royal Logistic Corps provides logistic support functions to the British Army. It is the largest Corps in the Army. History The Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) was formed on 5 April 1993, by the union of five British Army corps: * Royal Engineers Postal and Courier Service * Royal Corps of Transport * Royal Army Ordnance Corps * Royal Pioneer Corps * Army Catering Corps The RLC comprises both Regular and Army Reserve units. The Royal Corps of Transport (RCT) was a British Army Corps established to manage all matters in relation to the transport of men and material for the Army and the wider Defence community. It was formed in 1965 and disbanded in 1993; its units and trades were amalgamated into the Royal Logistic Corps. The Depot and Training Regiment RCT was at the former Buller Barracks in Aldershot garrison. The Army Reserve is the active-duty volunteer reserve force of the British Army. It is separate from the Regular Reserve whose members are ex-Regular personnel who retain a statutory liability for service. Fife And Forfar Yeomanry/Scottish Horse
The Fife & Forfar Yeomanry/Scottish Horse is unit of the British Army regiment formed in 1956. Originally a regiment in its own right, it is currently a Yeomanry Squadron of the Scottish and North Irish Yeomanry. History The regiment was formed by the amalgamation of the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry and the Scottish Horse on 1 November 1956. In 1967 the regiment was put into suspended animation (and not allowed to recruit). In 1969 the squadron was reduced to a cadre strength and became sponsored by 153 (Highland) Transport Regiment. The Scottish Yeomanry (SCOTS YEO) was a Yeomanry Regiment of the British Territorial Army formed in 1992. It was disbanded in 1999. 154 (Scottish) Regiment is a regiment of the British Army's Royal Logistic Corps. It forms part of the Army Reserve. Its role is to provide general transport support at 'third line' for the British Army. History The regiment was formed as the 154th (Lowland) Regiment, RCT (Volunteers) in Glasgow in 1967. The initially comprised just 221 Squadron and 222 Squadron. 225 Squadron was formed in 1969, 251 Squadron in 1971 and 225 Squadron in 1992. 527 Squadron, 230 Squadron and 231 Squadron and 251 Squadron were added on amalgamation with 153 (Highland) Transport Regiment to form the Scottish Transport Regiment in 1993. 231 Squadron was subsequently disbanded.
